Relax guys! we're supposed to be friends here. Wearing saw protection is mandated in Norway, optional for us (for now).
We better start to get used to the idea just in case it becomes mandatory here too! This forum is the perfect place to share what we all know about the issue so we can all make informed decisions on products(comfort, durability, price,etc..).
Hey Mark, just how much stopping power does 4 layers have? ever run a test on 'em?
Anybody who thinks that just because they have never been cut means they don't need protection has got a serious machismo issue. Protection is for before the accident , not after. Imagine the motorcycle rider who crashes, gets banged up real bad, then decides maybe he should start wearing a helmet. I too have never cut myself after 15 years of chainsaw use(knock on wood), do I wear chaps? you bet. Also never been konked on the head by anything big, do I wear a hardhat?... My dad took a bad blow once, a 4" by 30' Oak limb came down from the sky and hit him right on top of his Bilsom, rolled down to dislocate his shoulder. It cracked the hat but not his skull. Maybe we should wear protection because of other peoples accidents, not our own.
I'll admit, just because you wear PPE doesn't make you safer, you've got to have a safety attitude.
