You could get Jaws from the James Bond movies to cut it for you... /forum/images/graemlins/applaudit.gif /forum/images/graemlins/9lame.gif

I have 18v De Walt tools. The drill can get through some pretty large wood if you use through bolts. The use the reciprocating saw for cutting bolts and wire. EHS wire is a bit tough to cut.

I use longhandled boltcutters on the ground.wondering if a pair of bypass cutters would work.Have to look at sherril site .we use a dewalt on small cabling

In terms of hand tools, bolt cutters (http://www.mytoolstore.com/klein/63314.html) have an anvil-type mechanism and do not work well (if at all) on wire rope. Proper cable cutters (http://www.mytoolstore.com/klein/63016.html) use a bypass-jaw arrangement. I have a pair of the cable cutters linked-to, and 3/16" really is the comfortable limit for that size. I would not use them to cut bolts. When cutting fence wire with them, care must be taken to prevent the wire from getting between the jaws and spreading them sideways, which can snap off one of the jaws. They really are only good for wire rope, for which nothing else (hand-powered) is any good.

Glen-

I use the anvil type that you showed and with a little modification they work a lot better on high tensile steel cable. Use a flat file and tidy up the cutting edge, don't reshape it, just clean it up. Then crank the adjustment screw down to add more pressure at full closer. Walla! They ain't perfect, but they work twice as well. I use the 18volt dewalt recipocating saw for the bolts.
