Bulldog OAR Lanyard Adjuster

I got some KM3 in my cart with some other stuff. It looks nice but as Gordon has mentioned before it is not really fond of other cords and I have tried everything I own already. Hopefully the KM3 will be perfect, it's got some big shoes to fill if it's going to replace the Zillion on my saddle now.

Thanks for the review Mike.

I don't have the Zillion, but have tried the ZZ as a lanyard adjuster and it is hard to beat the pulley action for taking up slack. When heavily weighted you can pull and hold the bottom arm on the BOLA and then tweak the top arm to release.

I ran mine on escalator today and really liked it. When I had to press against my lanyard, I flipped the bottom piece down to increase the bend on the top, which helped keep it locked off.

Thanks, Gordon; the BOLA is my new favorite adjuster.

Just got my KM3 today and gave it a try. Such a huge difference when you use the proper rope. Nice work Gordon. I need to spend some quality time with it over the weekend. I'm not completely sold on it replacing my Zillion but it will certainly be on my belt as a second positioning source, or when I need a long lanyard (I made it 20ft).

Been using the Bola/7/16" KMIII as a pruning lanyard myself. Very cool device once again Gordon! Always grabs and quite smooth.

But I can't keep myself from 1/2" KMIII and a hitch on removals, just easier on my hands

I am really, really liking this lanyard adjuster. I have some video footage that I have put together to show off the BOLA...nothing special. It is just little clips that demonstrate the action...really smooth.

I don't have a gopro, so I was only using one hand...so excuse me for not looking very adept at operating my systems. I am finding more and more I like about this adjuster...the one thing it doesn't do is single line, but that's what its big brother is for.
PROS:
- One handed adjustment even while loaded
- Compact, fits well in hand
- Simple
- Smooth tending
- Grabs right away
- Single point switches seamlessly to tending
- Fixed or Swivel eye (Nano)
- Looks great coupled with the BDB!
*I haven't tried it in sap, but I am betting it would be worlds better than a hitch.

CONS:
- Not midline attachable (but for a lanyard adjuster that's just fine)
- Works on few lines/purpose built for 7/16 KM III (but for a lanyard adjuster that's just fine)
- Not for single line (but for a lanyard adjuster that's just fine)

Feel free to skip around and just watch what you want...I just wanted to get some footage out there so you all can see this thing move.

11mm Kernmaster Safari works quite well with the Bola. I don't think it is any better, nor worst, than its interaction with KmIII, but another rope choice
Yeah, another option.

I am really liking the near zero sit back. This Lanyard Adjuster is so compact and it moves along the line when you want it to and stops where you want it to. I think the hardest part about having such a nice lanyard set up is that I don't want to get it dirty. I put that rope sleeve on my lanyard to keep my rope nice, but it makes my lanyard bulkier and heavier. I kind of want to ditch the sleeve, but then I know my beautiful new KMIII will get all scruffy.

Things on my wish list for this device: Single leg compatible and midline attachable. I know once you have the BOLA on your line you don't need to take it on and off, but I like having professional splices on my lines, so I had to leave one side splice-less and just tie a knot. The other single leg would just make it more sweet, not necessarily necessary...I find that, since I climb SRT most of the time, I like having the DdRT available during a climb by incorporating my 25' lanyard to help get me places etc.

I like the 7/16 KMIII for my long lanyard, so I don't mind the limited rope options.

I'm just as OCD, about my gear & ropes, no scuffs or dirt, not even wood chips on the Velcro on my TreeMotion. So Sad!
Has anyone seen that Akimbo device, that YoYoMan has on his Facebook page? What a tricky little thing, you can multi-attach several of them together! Blew me away when I 1st saw it!

Yes highliner, you need to "pm" surveyor, he is responsible for the BDB & BOLA. His real name is Gordon, in case you weren't aware. I seem to recall they're $140-$160, shipping included. Best of luck.
