Bulldog OAR Lanyard Adjuster

This actually looks like a great working device! I must say, absolutely genius! Now, I really want one! The swivel really makes it a completely feasible tool. Great Job, Gordon!

Steve, I am working on that still, but so far beeline is a no go.

Thanks Dave, it is designed around my 7/16" KM III

Gordon I have never had K3 in my hands, what makes it work better than the PMI?

Damn I need to proof read my posts more, maybe I can cut down on the edits.

ML, The PMI has a coarser cover and is stiffer, which makes it tend and release harder/jerkier than the smoother and a bit suppler KM III

Steve, I think both the narrower and more compressible nature of the beeline make it difficult to grip with this mechanical.

I tried the PMI with the BullDog, and I have to agree with Surveyor, it just slides through the Bone, it just doesn't want to bite/grab like the KMIII, I've actually had good luck with Kernmaster, it just needs a little more tending than other ropes. I still like it. It's getting to be more predictable, whereas in the beginning, I had too many expectations. I'm learning, which is how it's supposed to be! I still want to try the OAR, the swivel really opens the door to opportunities and possibilities! And the Thanks should go to Gordon, Kevin, & Richard. You guys have really surpassed some real milestones for the rest of us that rely on your ingenuity and open mindedness to our safety and productivity! Thumbs up to group of you!

Sure, and once the kiddies see that setup, they'll throw away their Lego and TinkerToy collection and want a whole pile of Bulldog Bone stuff.

I'm kinda waiting until I place my next order at Treestuff to add some KM III, but I don't know if I can wait until then. I am really looking forward to trying this BOLA out with its intended companion. I have tried it on some old Tachyon (Orange with blue) I have, and it worked pretty well. It was a little hard to release while under load, but other than that It seemed better than any other lanyard adjuster I have tried... AND that was on a line that it wasn't intended for. I can't wait to try it with the KM III!

So I have been climbing with the adjuster for a few weeks now. It runs very smoothly with KMIII 7/16". Tends like a dream.....but applies just enough friction so it doesn't goggle up your lanyard every quick move you make (like the ART positioner can do). Tends much like the Bone on a good line. Its release it nice. It took a day of practice to get it down but there are many ways and positions to make the device release.

Under heavy load, it can be a little jumpy, but under usual circumstances, it is smooth and you can always grip the rope a bit if all your weight is into it. The Sugru I put on isn't quite necessary and probably makes a work of art look like a child's toy, but I am a creature of comfort...naturally.

I originally had the nano swivel installed and liked it quite a bit. But I found this yates tether, shortened up a bit, gives you plenty of movement side to side, and for me personally, puts the adjuster in a more comfortable position (much like a hitch).

You cannot use this device in a single line configuration. It will slip without a doubt. At certain times, when unusual amount of pressure are put on the adjuster, it will slip slowly. For instance, if I am pushing over a back-leaning top or in certain awkward positions where your lanyard may be below your hips. This is the only real "con" I have experienced thus far.

I don't know how the adjuster performs in sappy conditions as I use a wire-core for conifers.

Overall, great device Gordon!
