I use one fid, as I thought that part of the point of the brummel was to allow for a shorter bury.
Like a hitch cord the shorter bury is desired on a Whoopie, doesn’t mean it’s as strong as the straight bury of two fids.

True true. Just sharing that their official brummel instructions are a 1 fid bury.
But only when used in a specialized situation, the Whoopie has a loss of about 20% from the loop tail exiting out the side. No need for a full strength splice, especially when trying to make it as short as possible.

Don't you lose plenty of the line strength in the choker configuration, or in most of the knots you actually use a sling in? Especially in the pocket slings? How would that compare you think?
