I am planning to get a new one...but i am wanting the best..as it will be used for yrs.

can anyone reccomend a comfortable, light , harness ??

You really need to try a few on. What is good one guy, might be quite painful for you.

We can tell you about the features of the harnesses, but the most important thing to consider is the fit, and only YOU can determine that part.

Well the Treemotion has been great to me so far.

But for lower back pain, do you attach your saw on your hip? After getting the motion I used a rear attachment and all the lower back pain I use to have has not acted up as of yet. It's worth a try.

Yeah; rear loop rules!

I have a real long Saw strop with a ring near the saw attachment point, and a clip on one of the leg loop rings for when i need to keep it out of those lower branches.

I have achieved Top-handle enlightenment.

You just got a Butterfly II while you knew the Treemotion was on it's way?

tom dunlap just did a great review with pics on the rant and rave section of treebuzz on the treeflex, he seems really happy with it, i have the treemotion and as much i do love it it is way more costly than it probably should be, i only suggest the treemotion to people who dont live near me just in case it wasnt worth the money so they dont beat me up and take my wallet and seeing that your not located in the states, the treemotion is the best thing ever (seriously though i would read what tom has to say, hes always been nice to me whenever i have had questions and he answers them in a timely fashion) i also wrote a review about the treemotion you should be able to find it somewhere around here, im still waiting for other treemotion owners to contribute but hey, maybe i nailed all the pros and cons, happy hunting

Hello all,

I am also looking for a harness, but mine will be for Recreational Tree climbing. Here are a few things I have done:

I have climbed with two different brands/models, New Tribe and the Butterfly 1, I have also put on and hung from a rope with the – Ultra-light, Butterfly 2, Buckingham and one more.

With each, I got the harness comfortable then tested it by hanging on it for a while and moving about then adjusting again if needed. I was able to see different setups and sizes, Medium versus large, Straps versus buckles, fixed versus floating D's, leather versus webbing. There is a lot to consider, your weight, build. I found some that would not stay in place and they road up to my ribs and that made them unbearable after a few minutes, stressing my breathing.

I would suggest going to a trade show or a few stores and see if you can try on the different harnesses. See if you can try on all that interest you.

I want something that is light and comfortable to move about in, easy to put on and off. So far I have it down to two that I will try again and investigate further before I purchase.

There are reviews on the Rants and Raves, the treemotion (which I have not tried) and the Treeflex, as stated above are reviewed there also.

Enjoy the trees you climb
