Best 15" Chipper

This is the one (donaldson?) on the 1821. Not a bowl setup. Grab a part number for the big engines @Reach @VenasNursery ?View attachment 74430
Well when I broke mine I went to Cat and they said they couldn’t get me that pre cleaner
So I ran a pantyhose over my bowl that was broken in 3 pieces and some zip ties
I end up having to order from Morbark for $500 if I could have bought it from Donaldson it would have been probably $200
So long story long
None of the numbers would cross
If you want I can give you my serial number and you can order it from them?

Big jump going from a 12” non autofeed. Stellar chipper and munches bundles of oak brush, but work has increased too much for it. 18” would be great for a removals only outfit or where one can’t get rid of wood easily. @Sfoppema bought a 18xp with the 6.2 ford recently.
Congrats brother! 6.2 rocks for the 300 or so hours I've run it. I'd have to agree with treetop 18 is the way to go. Even pruning because you can stage the brush with mini and leave the chipper off majority of the day then chip your piles in minutes. No idea about fuel consumption but having mini and big chipper saves fuel from avoiding running chipper full nut hand feeding limbs inefficiently. Then you have the capacity for saving labor when doing removals. Or chipping dogshit logs no one wants.

I'm sure 15 is great as well. No problems yet but have heard some of the clutches they used were duds. What clutch do you have?

Only complaint is winch seems underpowered not sure what they put on for hydraulic motor. That said I have maybe used it twice as we have the mini.

Awesome move for the new machine congrats

I generally do research before calling dealers as I have been mislead more times than not. Did some digging and it appears the one pictured above is an Engineaire brand one. @craneguy1 mentioned they suck in an old thread and now uses Centri. I’ll call them about which size for the 6.2. $2-300 vs $110 for Engineaire. Multiple Donaldson styles and then even more models. If you could snap a pic of the serial/mod number that would be great. All searches lead back to TB, but not if you use the search tab...

Call Donaldson & give them the dimensions of your housing with the numbers that are on the stamped on.

We’ve had to source new pre-cleaners for other types of equipment & they helped.

Donaldson makes one like that, it has a spinner inside to eject the dust so that you don’t need a bowl. They’re supposed to work quite well, I just don’t like moving parts so we haven’t bought one yet.

As for model numbers, you can look them up in the Donaldson catalog on their website, you just need the outside diameter of the pipe sticking out of your air filter so you can order a precleaner that will fit that pipe.

Donaldson recommends: H002431 (~$160)
Enginaire recommends: 4-150/465 (~$120)
Centri recommends: EX-50 (~$360)
Still waiting on a word from Bandit/dealer but the housing is Enginaire so would assume that for a pre-cleaner
