Are you afraid to die?

Well, there were these things called the Crusades, maybe you've heard of them, they were a pretty big deal
Unfortunately those who participated in the crusades were ignorant of Christ's teachings and Christ Himself. They killed many Jews too because "the Jews killed Jesus" not considering that Jesus was Jewish. Or that His messages were about repentance and forgiveness.

That guy was the man.

I think I've been on the ride too long. I can not relate well to people. I never thought in a thousand years I'd find so many like minded people... online??!!! But, tree work has been a mystical experience from day one so I guess it makes sense.

Tree work is so mystical.
In so many ways. The fact that it is a job can hide the fact that It is also a way of living life rather fulfilling. I meet so many amazing people. I see amazing stuff from nature. I feel and experience so much excitement, emotion and calm I'm besides myself at times. I do not think that would happen working behind a desk in an office or a machine in a plant.

well the horse seems to be well out of the barn now and has a good head up so lets really go to town.
So is this where we help each other further develop our superpowers?

I feel like knowing you can do something helps tremendously when doing something others can't even imagine.

Maybe I should start paying more attention to things in my life I might take for granted.

This is exactly what I feared would happen to a good thread full of openness and honesty. Judgement and advice free. I will not be returning to this conversation. If you wanna talk message me. If not I challenge you to walk a mile in my shoes and then explain your beliefs. Death rocked the very beliefs of C S Lewis and he was a respected religious scholar. Explain that! Rhetorical question as I won't see your answer. Have a good holiday.

I have to admit that I am both afraid of dying and of being dead. Being dead seems really horrible to me, to be nothing and experience nothing at all or, rather, to be sealed inside of the casket that you were lowered into the earth in for eternity. Horrifying!

It gives a life a particular lustre once you know that we are (as Colonel Kurtz in Apocalypse Now said it) "like snails moving along the edge of a straight razor".

Makes you just want to hug everyone you can before the end, eh?

When I think of dying I hope that it is swift but also, I want to see it coming. Like a long fall. I'm sure we've all been in a situation where our brain says, "this is gonna suck." Like when you hit a massive kicker with the intent of doing a nice slow, crossed up, 360, but instead hit it at the wrong angle and go inverted.....that feeling. And I've noticed that when those situations arise my brain seems to work overtime and think faster. I seem to run through everything I've should've done differently in those few seconds. I think that when death finds me those last few seconds will be a "oh that's what I should've done differently" moment. I'm weird around death, I was there for both of my grandfathers deaths and I don't really remember feeling anything. Dying is just a part of life. And finally, absolutely it scares me, it is the final adventure. I'm loving life at the moment, and have to much work to do before I depart.

Free hugs here, Chris!
