I thought I was the only one who felt that way about AS. I've been on there for a while, although usually only to see what's for sale. A venture too far from their classified section quickly devolves into exactly what @rico has mentioned. @treebing recently told me about the Buzz and I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. Glad to be here and I've learned more in a couple months than I had in nearly a decade browsing AS.

There have been some good threads there but I felt I was responding to a lot of posts from HOs and rookies as well as some hacks here and there. One example is the meathead who though Oak Wilt was basically a hoax or BS. Threw in the towel after calling him a moron.

Sounds like you've been hanging around some places with doors I've never opened over there! Been there since 2006, and just try hard to not participate in stupid - right or left / left or right. Plenty of other worthwhile conversations. Plenty of stupid all over the internet if you go looking for it.

Certainly better in depth conversations here in trlat.on to plant health, climbing, rigging (cranes, which I don't do...). I learn some there. I do think that is better place to find chainsaw specific answers.

I avoid any conversation with the guy @JD3000 was talking about. He is just there to stroke his own ego. Rarely pops in. Can have a more intelligent conversation with my 10 and 12 year olds....

I do think it funny that they block other site url's. Seems pretty self-insecure.

Well, I've only been climbing and reading forums a little over a year, so I'm still getting familiar with the different sites. I just think it's hasty to brand everyone on a site negatively for what a few of the members might say in the heat of discussion. I've asked a few newb questions on as, and feel like I got helpful responses from other members.

I don't recall branding EVERYONE at AS negatively.... Hell, I'm pretty sure @treebilly & @Jemco still hang out there and they are good peoples, both as human beings and tree-men....Regardless it doesn't change the fact that AS is a cesspool full of unchecked hate-filled ignorance... As a proud American who believes that we are all TRULY EQUAL, I will exercise my RIGHT to voice my very strong opposition to hate, and my disdain for AS allowing unadulterated hate to flourish on their website. I also have to ask why anyone but the Hate-Filled, or the Cowardly would allow such a thing to go unchecked on their forum? So yea, Fuck Em'.....

I've been on A/S for 10-15 yrs and never seen any of that stuff on A/S either ... is there a basement or "Politics Shit Show" or "Inmates Only" sub-forum that I've somehow missed?

Seriously, I have never and I mean "not even once" seen stuff like that there. Not saying you folks are lying, just maybe that it's only in some "not so public" parts of the site if I've never seen any of it...because I've been in most if not all of the sub-forums there...

Yes, you have to make an effort to get to the political forum. It is password protected. If anyone needs the password PM me. :) There are several right wingnuts that must be eating magic mushrooms, not that there is anything wrong with that.
 
You would think that if they are eating shrooms they would be chill. Even with all this talk of AS I still don't want to go see. I've checked in maybe a dozen times in the past several years but that is about it.
