arboristsite.com down

That place was my first introduction to an online community of arborists. there’s for sure some very helpful people there, many of which post here as well, and I got a ton of great advice but it got disappointing fast.

I wonder what your reaction would be if someone here were to threaten your wife with physical violence? Would you simply turn your cheek Pelorus? Would you be okay with the Mods allowing it to continue?

Am not excusing your mortal combatants over on AS, but.....

1. Did you choose to inject yer wife into the conversation there?

2. You cant agree to disagree with people having different political opinions without being kinda nasty.

3. Do you think in 5 or 10 years any of this will matter one iota?

Arboristsite is the first tree forum I joined, although I havent posted there (or Butch's Treehouse) in several years. Lots of good info over in AS in the milling and chainsaw threads.
I'm less than impressed of members (edit: and owners/moderators) of tree forums bashing competing forums like AS or the Treehouse (and vice versa).

Context, my good fellow. And perhaps you missed the "not excusing" preamble.
There are big shots and mental midgets running their mouths on every forum.
If one chooses to engage in a thermonuclear discussion with one or more of them AND drags their wife into it, then shame on them.

2. Nasty? I think threatening another man's wife is way beyond nasty...

3. Nope.

Luckily we still live in a country were one can voice their opposition to things that they find offensive, so as long as some of the fine folks over at AS continue spewing hatred, racism, and homophobia I'm will continue to exercise my RIGHT to "bash" the place. Tree forum or not....

I myself am "less than impressed" by someone who defends the indefensible, attacks the messenger, and manages to be a cheeky condescending little twat in the process.

Oh Goodie, yet another badge of honor for me to wear with pride....

I would like to personally commend you for your ability to defend a forum that allows hate to flow unfettered, and for the fact that you somehow managed to attack those who would dare to voice their opposition to such a place....Quite an achievement, I can assure you ole buddy....

Well, after I stood up for arboristsite I'm now getting a message code 403 saying I am forbidden access to the site. I don't have a clue why.
 
Only thing that place is good for is a quick google search for info on chainsaws as there is a wealth of knowledge stored in that section. Most of that knowledge can be found or asked at opeforum now though, a lot of smart saw wrenchers and none of the other nonsense is allowed. This is certainly the place to come hang out and talk climbing trees though. Thanks Tom and Mark for keeping this place a pleasant and respectful place to be.
 
This banner at the top of ArboristSite reminded me of this thread:
