Arboriculture Degree Programs in the US and Canada

Check with Paul smiths in upstate ny. Last I heard they were looking at doing the first year online and the second on campus. I haven’t been up to talk with them in a couple years so I’m not sure how far they got with the program.

What year did you graduate? Dans probably been doing nothing but shoveling snow with this wonderful march we have been having.
Dendrology was a bit different in so many way, Dr. Kudish (if I remember correctly). Always comparing the fruits from trees to students from other majors (ie chefy’s).

Longwood Gardens has an excellent intership program.

Not a true degree program, but the savy applicant can make the connections work.

If I had to it all over...

I love the family business. I am privileged to participate/participated at a high level. Having said that, a step away into a program (before working in a family business) like this would have made so many things easier/smoother.

Tony makes a great point, as close as they are to me (worked there for so long) I forgot that this program had been revamped in the past few years. Great guys and environment to learn in. And hey you might even be able to sit in on and help out with a few of tony’s Arb classes!

Columbus State offers a certificate now and one day a degree program.

Ohio State had urban forestry. Not sure if that program still exists.
