Advice on covering large bamboo plant

I'm trying to protect my bamboo plant from the cold weather by covering it with a tarp. There are large oak trees on both sides of it. My plan was to hang between the trees so I could get the tarp over the bamboo and attach it to the wood scaffold I built.
I started working on it today but I accidentally pulled on the tail of the Blake's hitch and got stuck. Forunately I wasn't very high off the ground yet so someone put a step ladder under me and I was able to free myself. It was kind of a wake up call though because I don't know what I would of done if I was higher up.
I guess I just wanted to share my project with some climbers and see what you think I should do. Should I just give up or is there a way to do this safely? scaffold1.webp

Unfortunately this species is only hardy to about 0 degrees so there are a few days that will kill it. All of the stuff I didn't cover last year died.

A tarp is only going to offer minimal protection.

There are lot of hardy boo.

I'm growing a black boo that is spreading beyond control. Pretty stuff though.

I use it to make structures for growing garden vegetables.

If you are ever in GA look me up and I'll give you some. Or you could just wait...........because it's spreading your way!

I have a 5000 watt heater that I was going to put under it. Would it work if I put a rope going horizontally over the bamboo, then have a rope come straight down that I could use my SRT ascenders on?plan.webp

Try searching "highline" for ideas. Remember to plan a way down after ascending. Tarps and heaters don't mix in my experience...

Thanks for the ideas. I guess I'll try the highline technique in a few days, I had to order some more rope. That Johny Pro guy is crazy but it makes what I'm doing seem pretty simple. I'll post some pictures of how it goes.

highline1.webp highline2.webp Tried it for the first time today. It works. I'm using a Petzl I'D and when I descend the rope gets sucked through the mechanism really fast, I guess because of the highline tension or something. I guess it still works well though if I go slow.
