Adjustable ascender

I'm hoping that the attached picture turns out to be the right size. If not, I'll be going to remedial classe :)

The adjuster is an added layer to the ascender line. Since the climber is attached to the ascender directly by the orange rope, the adjsuter could slipa and the climber would still be connected.

Actually, the picture isn't the best. I should have shown it with the ropes attached to the large end of the biner. That's my routine practice if I have more than one rope attached. This keeps the load spread out and further away from the gate.

It probably would but not as nicely. There have been tests on the Shunt that show that it slips and deforms when the climber drops. I believe that the Shunt has been banned from use in high angle rope access in the UK.

That ascender is a prototype from ISC. The one and only in the world. If it makes it to production the pin/wing nut will be replaced by a spring pin setup.
