11 more stitches..only a start

Sorry to hear, Tom. I ended up with 11 staples in my scalp in Bayfield but that's another story. The skull is much tougher than the hand. Sending some healing tunes your way.

Tom, you can't use a log splitter to break up a ganglion cyst! You're supposed to use a Bible! ;-)

Seriously, though, sorry to hear about this. I will be watching my digits much more closely next time I'm splitting for sure!

Get well soon!

-Tom

Nice...

hope you heal fine. Have a guy I work with on sat. who did the same to 2 fingers. Has mobility of both one has no feeling though. Good luck

I had a 14 year old kid from the neighborhood splitting wood for me and he mashed his pinky like that. Awful! I was scared to death that his parents were going to kill me. Luckily it was only stitches, no broken bones. His pinky will always bear the mark of being mashed though.

His parents were just happy that he was splitting wood and not slinging rocks on the corner... a far more deadly career path.

hope you feel better soon Tom and will miss you in Florida. still think you should come.

Just got on and read this geeez Tom ouch. Heal slowly and don't rush things just glad it wasn't your wrist or crnter of hand. take it easy and have a happy holidays.

Isn't that the case? Spend hours on end dangling from a rope with sharp objects in your hands, but what gets you hurt is a woodsplitter on the ground.

The irony of life...

Just saw this, Tom. Sorry to hear about this, take care.

Wow Tom that's too bad! Sorry to hear about your accident. Hope you get well soon buddy. Those log splitters can be really scary.

I've broken 4 out of the 5 metacarpal bones in my left hand from different accidents over the years and know how painful the breaks can be. The only feeling that I lost was on the top of the 3rd metacarpal (middle finger), but its no big deal.

Please keep us posted on your recovery and I hope that you get well soon.
