Reg, I understand that you are coming from a place of concern and wellbeing for our industry. Safety shouldn’t be ignored, but regularly an arborist must make calculations with unrated anchors and structures to judge the risks involved…take any tree for example. Anyone that has held a BDB in...
I’m thinking it’s not going to be worth swapping to the 3/8 pitch after all. With all the trouble of switching the sprocket, bar…oiler hole position, so on and so forth, I’d be getting less performance out of the cs490, with the only advantage being that I would be simplifying the type of chain...
Yeah, I’ve been hiding…but I just went to the Penn-Dell symposium and saw Steve Connally and was reinvigorated to get in touch with treebuzz again. BTW Steve is the GOAT. He was a presenter and he knocked it out of the park. I’ve always been impressed with how masterfully he can handle a...
I’d like to convert an echo 490 from .325 pitch to 3/8 pitch .050” gauge. Is the 490 suited for this conversion or is it a pain. Can you replace the sprocket rim and bar and call it a day?
Kevin got me thinking with his hitch cord pictured above…Has anyone considered this sort of configuration? There maybe a tether more suitable for this set up, but this cleans up the bird action area and minimizes things to catch on. (Also, Kevin, I do like the alternate use of the stock...
My first guess was somewhere between a Siberian Elm and some sort of nut. I could see going with a Basswood as a pretty good match. What’s funny is when I received this picture to ID I took my phone out and googled it. I still couldn’t match it with anything I quite liked, so I thought I’d ask...
Love this discussion! Thank you Richard for bringing this up. I hadn't put much thought into the components that make up a good multiscender. I am currently really enjoying the Rope Runner Pro and finding that these 3 elements are remarkable, allowing it to function smoothly and consistently...
I am finally finding the time to write a few words of recommendation. We had Colin come dismantle a few trees for us, involving rigging over buildings, fences, and drive. He arrived early, even though he was coming from a few hours away, prepped his saws, readied his gear, and handled himself...

We also tried a 1215 Morbark...had a gas engine, 89hp I think. Found it to be underpowered. Had a single feed wheel, but no hydraulic compression system. Also it was a drum.
The 1215 was much more familiar, but like I said it had too little power. It would slow and drop rpm even chipping...
We rented a 200UC Bandit with the two wheel feed to try one out. We found the two wheels built up debris and jammed the feed. Maybe we are just used to the single feed wheel, but we would prefer a single...however it doesn't look like they make something we are going to be completely happy...
What is a comparable chipper to the M12D? Now that Morbark discontinued the M12D, a chipper we currently own, we are wondering what to get next. Any suggestions?
We like the single infeed wheel with a compression system.
We are looking for something in the ~5K weight range
Our M12D has a...
We got a used Isuzu from Ryder...we call it the Issue-zoo. We did not have a good experience working with Ryder and we had to replace the Regen system right after we bought it - something like 10k to repair. Ryder didn't want anything to do with it.
