    Cleaning hitch cord

Some of my hitch cords are pretty dirty and have some minor glazing. Any thought on a good way to clean them? I was thinking just warm water with a little laundry detergent and a toothbrush.

    Struggling with srt

For a long time I struggled with srt because I was supporting a lot of my weight with my arms to keep myself upright. My forearm muscles would get exhausted after only 20 feet or so. I've heard comments from others saying they have similar problems. If so, you might try this. Don't let your...

    Good deal on 3 strand?

Westech rigging supply has half inch 3 strand polyolefin with breaking strength of 6600 lbs for about 23 cents a foot. Has anyone used a rope of polyolefin in tree work? How well does it knot? Would you recommend it?

    Fuel squirt

If you have one of those saws that sometimes needs a couple drops of fuel squirted into the carb to start, this might be handy. I got a $1.00 ketchup bottle from walmart made of hdpe plastic. This is in the outdoor bbq section, not kitchenware. The bottles in kitchen ware are not hdpe. Then i...

    New pants from SIP

I just got an email from wesspur announcing a new arborist pants. They are called arborgasm, which is printed on the pants near the crotch. I dont want to be overly critical of what appears to be a nice set of pants. But im not crazy about having an allusion to a sexual function plastered on my...

    Loads on e2e friction hitch

Question about loading on a friction hitch. For discussion lets say a friction hitch is tied on a climbing line using an approved hitch such as vt and a hitch climber pully. Lets say climber is 200 pounds. Would the force applied to the e2e cord be 100 pounds on each leg of the e2e?

    M rig

I'm experimenting around with using the m rig setup with a hitchclimber pully. I would like to be able to route the climb line through the two chosen crotches from the ground, rather than while in the tree. I haven't been successful at it due to difficulty of isolating the two tips using one...

    Rendesvouz

I got an email from someone named griet van der heide. It was talking about some sort of arborist related rendezvous, and provided a link to get more information. I didnt click the link, cuz im suspicious. Has anyone else received this? Is it legit?

Stable braid End to end splice

Situation: fairly new 200' length of half inch stable braid. And so, of course, what happens? Damaged right in the motherf@#$ing, go@@*mn, a$$ reaming middle of the rope!!! So, would it be possible to splice the cut ends together, and would that be advisable? Or should i just live with 110' and...

    New suspenders

I'm thinking about getting a set of suspenders for my weaver cougar. Weaver offers them in elastic or nonstretch nylon. If anyone has used them can you comment on one over the other? Are they any good? I would think elastic would stay more snug, but I wonder if they would get stretched out of...

    Strength of multisling

Would i be correct in estimating that the breaking strength of a multisling should be approximately double the breaking strength of the rope used to make it?

What would you do with these?

I've acquired several shorter lengths of rope from tree stuff rope grab bags. Looking for ideas on what would be good uses for them. I made an ultra sling out of a 25 foot length of 3/4 inch tenex. Trying to figure out useful things for these other hanks. Any thought? - 32 feet of 3/4 inch...

    Rope cutting

Ive only done a little bit of splicing. Each time i get frustrated with cutting the cover or core. I have to saw and gnaw at it to get through and i end up with a frazzled mess on the ends and then have to clean them up. Ive tried pocket knives, box cutters, regular scissors, and even scissors...

    X ring or thimble

Just starting to get into rigging rings. Any thoughts on the notch black x rings compared to the notch silver rigging thimble rings? The large x ring is about the same dimensions as the medium notch thimble ring. The thimble rings are cheaper. Is there any apprdciable difference in friction...
