Customer called, reporting multiple sprouts in her lawn. Near a medium sized cottonwood. She believes this is tied to the tree’s root system and sprouts are coming from the roots, and I concur.
What can be done to stop the sprouting? Is the tree is distress or in trouble?
2x Rechargeable Battery 1100 for sale. I ordered them because sales guy said the batts in my tufftalk lite are replaceable. They are not.
$30 shipped CONUS in a padded envelope.
Had a huge red oak lose a 16" limb over the last windstorm. the stub is about 12ft long, of course broken at the end. Can I cut it back to the trunk now, or wait until the dormant season to create that wound?
Can/will oak wilt make its way into the trunk's main vascular system via the 12'...
Howdy gang.
I got a customer that wants a tire swing installed. What’s the best arbor-friendly way to tie the rope to the tree branch? Should I worry about a running bowline constricting the cambium if left there for several years?
I plan to use a cambium saver, garden hose material more than...
Hey guys. I have a few standard carabiners. A bunch of Rock-O and Pirates. But the material is fat. I struggle to put 2 biners in the same shackle of the swivel on my bridge. Before I rip that swivel out for a CMI California swivel with multi holes, I want to see if I can replace those biners...
Here's a question open for discussion:
When you are providing services as an ISA Certified Arborist, are you providing Professional Services? I would guess not, since there is no personal license requirement at the State level. However, as a Certified Arborist you would presumably be providing...

Section 6.2.
So the Fed Forest Service is describing a scenario when you can move about the tree crown without being tied in? Are they - and their employees - not required to follow Z133?
I mean I get it, I've climbed a tree as a...
My business scored a line of credit and I feel like a 5yr old in a toy store. Looking for some hydraulics to purchase to save on my back. I think I've settled on either a Bobcat MX85 or a Cat 247/257. To those of you with a mini: how many times have you needed the mini where a full size track...
I've climbed with my Jameson+Silky handsaw trying to prune some upper branches, and let me tell you it's a PITA.
I'm looking to upgrade - I like the Stihl HT131 (I'm a Stihl guy), but I also like the idea of a lightweight battery powered one. I'm trying to decide if the Milwaukee M18 Quik-Lok...
Does anyone have experience with this gear? Seems like a cool innovation - I like the little red loops on the side of the bridge, are they designed to support weight/second TIP?
Plenty of 'biner loops, but one thing I don't notice: a solid ring or two to hang a chainsaw lanyard.

What is anyone using for a small saddle-friendly pry bar to take with when negative rigging or chunking down spars? More than once I've wished I had a little more leverage than my little palm wedge.
Cheers
Hey gang. I just recently converted my Weaver Cougar saddle to a rope bridge saddle with rigging plates -- many call this the "liger" mod. I decided to go with 1/2" Samson for the rope, and Rock Exotica Tri-rig rigging plates. Below is a video of me doing the mod to my saddle.
I like the...
What did you think is the issue with this red pine? Dried or discolored needles. We’ve had a standard summer, not particularly dry. This tree sits just north of a shallow tin roof, so my first thought was sunburn, but HO says it just started happening early this summer and has never sunburnt...
Finally turned my trusty old Cougar into a rope bridge saddle. 1/2" Samson Arbormaster in a pair of RE TriRig paws. I'm using double-overhands on either side now. What knots does everyone here like?
Video explaining the different reset procedures for the different Mtronic generations:
But my question remains. I have two MS362 saws in my stable, one manufactured 09/14, one 06/16. They have slightly different air shrouds, etc. I believe the older one to be version 1 with the 90 second...
I'm having some issues with my Sterling Tendril MRS climbing system. It runs through the Uni and it normally tends well enough using @oldfart 's climbing in a loop setup. But recently it seems that the Uni cannot catch the rope when I weight it after ascending.
I hip-trust up, pulling the tail...
