It is time for an update to the maple tree. I planted it about 2 months ago. It is doing well up to a point, after that the top seems dead. I will post pictures next.
I think I have 3 options for this tree. Tell me what you guys think.
1. Top the tree and see how it responds.
2. Leave the dead...
The wraptor is mid-line attachable. You could advance you access line and keep the base tie. I don't know how it descends. A figure 8 would solve that.
Rico, you have a cool hard hat, a bad ass skidder, a lucas mill (needs no superlative), a beautiful location and great photographer. I love seeing your work photos. Keep them coming.
I think you need to consider how arborists and rec tree climbers would use a device like this. This is pretty much limited to access only. It is bulky, like having several bricks with you. The weight and size of the device limit its usefulness. It looks like it would be great for access and then...
I would not use it for winching and life support. Once life support gear is used for rigging, it becomes rigging gear. I got 2 R500s, one for climbing and one for winching.
Does it have any ANSI or CE certifications yet? Any plans to get them? Is it mid-line attachable? What size and type of rope is it compatible with? Does it have a brake to hold the load? What kind of battery does it take? What is the battery capacity? What kind of motor does it have (commutator...
My suggestion is to order a rollgliss R500 for 100 or 200 dollars and attach a cordless drill. Some of us don't have deep pockets and innovate our own affordable tools.
The ronin looks like a good product. Just too expensive. Skylotec also makes a motorized belay device and it has a remote...
"Rope" refers to the manufactured material. Once rope is purposely sized, cut, spliced, or simply assigned a function, the result is referred to as a "line", especially in nautical usage. Sail control lines are mainly referred to as sheets (e.g. jibsheet). A halyard, for example, is a line used...
I think they would work fine for lowering static loads. I think dynamic loads would put a beating on a device like this. The fluid coupling sounds like the ticket because of not having a linkage. A linkage would need to be pretty sturdy for rigging abuse but the fluid coupling could handle the...
I use a lower-able DdRT system for ascent. After I get to the TIP, I switch over to a friction saver if the first TIP is not ideal. I use an omni block 1.5 on kernmaster for a lower-able TIP. I use a petzl IDs on the basal anchor. I know it is overkill, but I picked it up for $50, new, on ebay...
