I respectfully disagree. A crew with a chipper has to have a chipper running for the entire cleanup process, or there is soon a tangle of branches that no one wants to deal with. When the chipper is down, the crew cant work. The grapple truck offers much more flexibility, in that the crew can...
There's a thread on here somewhere about chipping vs grapple truck that I have laid out my reasons for moving to a grapple truck. It's not the answer for everyone, but if you are doing a lot do large removals it makes perfect sense. Also, there is a trade off between the cost of a chipper or...
And for me the worst part is that there is no price protection on the new units, even if you ordered last year. I believe I will be looking at close to a 8k price increase from when I ordered it till I get it.
Thought I would give a shout out to Titan Manufacturing from West Plains, MO. They built the bed and put this truck together for me. Best of all, they were able to work with my custom specs, and had it done in a reasonable time frame!
This is a Freightliner SD114 with a 22' box, and a rear...
5 years ago, I was where you were. Looking for my first grapple truck and not feeling like I knew much. I was looking for a good used cab and chassis, and called around till I thought I found a good one. Looking back, I wish I would have just bought a new one, although whether I could afford...
Well I keep 2 on hand all the time, so I will be selling my backup machine as soon as my new one arrives. Let me know if you want it, but it wont be available till then.
Just under 1750 hours. Joystick controls, and fairly new aftermarket tracks. Machine has just been serviced, and is ready to go! Attachments not shown, but I have several extras to choose from as I have other machines. Let me know what you would like. I will sell it with a bucket, other...
So we have been using Protos helmets for a couple months after switching from Kask. We like the helmets... However, some of my guys are having headaches after wearing them for several hours at a time. It seems to get worse as the week progresses. The problem seems to be from the earmuffs...
As someone else has already said, move away from the day rate and bid your jobs. Have an hourly target based on your setup, and get a feel for how it comes out.
Then as you get more equipment, and more efficient the jobs will go faster, and even if your bid stays the same your hourly rate will...
We went with the Cardos. I like the range and the Mesh technology. I bought the Cardos bold, they claim 1.6 mile range. Building interference seems to be less with the Cardos. Plus I don't think there is a limit as to how many can be on their system.
I have tried Senas, Speakeasy, and Cardos, and I think the noise canceling from speakeasy is the best out there. The reason I sold is because I wanted something that would pair easier with a larger number of headsets. Also, Speakeasy is a sequencing system instead of a mesh system, but as long...
