Let me clarify what I am asking- once you have started descending and say you wanted to do some work on the way down just how do you stop? When you wrap the rope over the arms and the they depress I am trying to figure how you go about stopping.

I use an eye to eye and hook it up to the rear of my saddle and over my shoulder and biner in to the hitchclimber- then i don't have to use my lanyard. Advances hitch and wrench very nicely.

I use an archery release that is attached via prussic to the main pole of my Sidewinder and slide it down (to add more tension). Works great and I can aim instead of struggling holding the band back.
