I have been experimenting with cinching above me with the Bowline on a Bight, clipped in with a biner with a pull-down throwline if you need.
anyone else been working this? I haven't used it much in the field, mostly backyard. I seem to like it, wonder about forces on the biner.
the BOAB even...

try clipping the mini-biner onto the wrench tether instead of the pulley - it lifts the pulley and the RW at the same time.

Kevin will jump in on this too, but I'm thinking when i took a fall on the RW, it was partially because I clipped it exactly like you...
you can also run a cord from the back of the saddle over your shoulder with a mini biner on the end.

treebing - just to be clear:
this is the part # from mcmmaster-carr?

the link on your post was related to your session, I think, didn't go to a specific part.
Oh, ok - i get it. the quick release pin is just a little skinnier than what it replaces. my long hands won't ever climb any ropes skinner than tachyon, so I'm into the midline dream and the quick release pin.
so then what I am hearing on my question is:
don't be in a hurry to cut the spliced...
ah yes i had noted the rope wrench midline mod and am quite interested. I even looked up the west marine part! I may be placing an order with a rope wrench dealer quite soon!!
but was there some concern that having the quick release pin would make it harder to adjust the friction? I can't quite...
Ah, yes, one can dream of being midline attachable =), you UniPeople and RopeNutters! one day soon, no doubt, the options will be ever-expanding.
The rope nut is looking smooth, surveyor.
So now that I done drunk the treebuzz SRT RopeWrench working kool-aid, I have 2 climbing ropes with spliced eyes on the end. I never use the eyes any more except to sometimes pull the line into the tree with the throwline. I can only thread the RW onto the end with no eye on it of course, which...
I have the twin - use it as the upper ascender above the RW. it is quite solid, but it weighs a lot more than a single handled petzl and a LOT more than the kong futura (or petzl basic), so unless you are going to use it for doubled ascent quite a bit, I don't think it is worth the extra money...
Tachyon and Lava are the same.
I have a long tachyon for my wrench - works great. Great for DdRT, too (whatever that is ;-). Some people think it bounces too much for them, but it doesn't bug me.
I have some older shorter sections of 1/2 inch arbormaster that i run the wrench on most of the...
excellent product - for me, it works most of the time for mild to moderate. Any stage of the rash, but earlier is better. multiple applications usually required - i'll use it 2-3 times a day on some cases. mellows the itch and pulls out the oil. changes my outlook on living in PO country.
It's...
I am about 20% into the book - amazing resource. Definitely the future. Right in line with the idea that 90% of all tree problems can be prevented at planting time - right tree, right place.
You all think that doing the school in addition to the book is worth it?
try this thread - great review and commentary from last November about all these poley sawey topics

IN particular, as far as gear goes, take a look at two things...
Had mine for a few smaller climbs now. LOVE IT
arbormaster, 34" grizzly spliced beeline, hitch climber, short tether girthed on to the biner in and around the pulley and prusik.
yes, on swings and descent it is really smooth.
coming from the kong robot/hitch SRT setup, the rope wrench is sooo...
This may have changed, but La Sportiva are generally a narrower boot - i never even bother to try them on, as i know they are too narrow for me. Give those a shot.
I am a big fan of Scarpa, mostly because they fit *me* so well. Buy a boot on fit more than features, methinks. my light boot now...
I just got a Black diamond Bag when i was ordering some ski poles from them. It looks to be about the same as the metolius rope tarp bag. mine was on sale for 32 direct from BD.
I took a few photos of it deployed - this bag has 150' of tachyon in it. I haven;t used it much yet, it being spring...
From the Lake Tahoe area, this is a time lapse video taken by some random dude which records the snows of this past March.
I think that the most interesting part is watching the branches go up and down with the snow weight - lots of movement! the snow really comes about 2/3 of the way though...
