Some other observations on fear being learned (or not):
I learned to skateboard later in life than many, and I always had to battle the fear of falling/getting hurt - really more of subduing the instinct for self preservation... and I never was very good as a result. To drop in on a pipe for...
That's awesome, and a really cool discussion on fear of heights. It's really interesting to me how some of that comes about. I do believe for most, fear is learned... Or maybe for many.
For me, I conquered my fear of heights during my second internship in college. I had to help do something on...
@Brocky - While that's kind of you - you have to admit that overlooking that the weight is divided between two ropes in double rope technique and 100% on a single rope in single rope technique is kind of stupid.
With that said, @Grafted_In - Will you do an even $100? And do you do paypal?
As...
Thank you! Like I said, stupid moment. Just kept looking at the hitch not being different vs looking at the whole system. The piece I was missing was the weight on the hitch is different!

Sorry I'm having a stupid moment. Is there something about SRT that makes you unable to descend on hitch cord or is it same as double rope: you can descend, it's just not all that smooth and hell on your hitch cord if you don't baby it?

That's what I meant. I didn't know there was a rigging one.
So what exactly is the point of the rope wrench? It takes friction off the hitch so it advances easier in SRT?
I'm an engineering manager in new product development, on the R&D and testing side of things (work with the designers, but not a CAD monkey myself). I've had to cover operations for a few years, but was still involved with development during that time, just more hands off. Before that I worked...
Well this turned out super long, so I'll preface it with a
SUMMARY:
he vast majority of customers who buy new (manufacturers don't make money off ones who buy used) want to buy something and use it until they have to fix it or until the next new thing comes out. We can't sell them something...
I guess I see the new model as a progression of the current model and assumed it would replace it. However, there isn't any indication that it isn't a new (additional) saw option vs. a replacement for the other.

They are on Amazon at least (not via Amazon, so maybe being imported?). The old version with the batteries sticking out the back is $319 with an angle grinder, here's the new version for $480:

Edited about the price
My Craftsman and DeWalt stuff is all old NiCd stuff. I've been buying generic batteries, but they just don't last as long as the originals. Of course the tools are getting old and probably need new brushes and stuff.
I'd been holding out for a deal on a set of DeWalt brushless impact driver...
You can buy molle panels. Amazon has them - they aren't terribly expensive... about $30 for a panel about the size of your seat back - there are some that are made to attach to your seat back as well.
Found this photo in the customer reviews:
To be fair I don't think they necessarily call it Globe 3000. They only mention it to be clear that it's not. But if it's a special "recipe" of the cord based on Globe 3000, why not just throw some special color/pattern Tracers in it to make it clear it's special.

Just wanted to chime in on the topic from the engineering/design and from the evil corporate perspective. Basically a lot of this comes down to liability and litigation. With that said, I'm not a lawyer, I don't pretend to be one... and while I did work at a law firm a couple summers when I was...
Sorry, I meant - the thickness itself doesn't make a difference assuming their resistance to abrasion was the same. Like maybe the thicker one is thicker due to a coarser weave which in turn makes it wear more quickly. Sorry - my job sometimes has me thinking about what it could be despite...
Thanks for the recommendation, that harness looks a lot like the Sentinel. But I've already gone TreeMotion, and I have to say - I'm not seeing any reason to look for anything else. The TreeMotion certainly doesn't feel like cardboard, and although it's certainly unconventional, the rubber belt...
