Certainly not buying a Stihl! :reloco:
We find most crooked cuts are found on our saws we cut stumps with, normally 2 main causes, a bur on the bar or one side if the chain (normally the down side) being duller. But both these you say you have corrected by a New (unused) chain and a new bar...
Look into inland marine insurance. That is going to be you best option for covering the towed equipment like a chipper. You can also add skid loaders, stumpers, attachments, saws and the like to the policy. It can also be written to cover rental equipment when needed as well. Who ever carries...
Biggest difference is the rx is a lighter machine. They put a smaller diameter drum with 2 cutter knives in so you only get a knife strike once every revolution. We demoed a 12” with 2 knives and it is a huge hp robber. And extremely disappointing compared to the 4 knife drums we tried. Our...
This is our favorite stacking method. Works great and much less of an opportunity for wedges to kick ou under the tension. A lot of times I’ll add one on either side of the as well just as helpers/stabilizers. (Which I did on this stump, just couldn’t see it in the thumbnail). I personally like...
We also explain the industry says to inspect “periodically” and for us that means biannual on static and annually on dynamic systems. The costs associated with support systems and the responsibility to schedule those inspections fall on the HO. Another important wording we tend to use as well...
We picked up his wraptor. Wanted that trolly, but someone else had already snagged it.
The case isn’t a pelican, but I think they are Huskey (from homeDepot). Our wraptor came in one too.
To be quite honest with you I don’t think our boss even went into much of an explanation to the neighbor. Saw him outside after the rain, went over and said we would take care of it. There wasn’t much root system on the tree to uproot it just wasn’t there. It was my first learning experience on...
A couple through bolts would actually probably help it stabilize that union a bit to allow it to heal. Even just one (look at the standard for size and number) toward the top to prevent any movement which can damage any calus wood that forms.
Cabling is part of what we do as arborists. Knowing when to install steel (static) or rope (dynamic) is part of the knowledge that we must learn on our own from experience. Even the standards are lacking (still) on the discussion of the various dynamic systems.
From the wording of your...
Our oaks out east certainly don’t have a dependable hinge in my opinion. Especially the red oak. They can hold well, or they can fail and go with the lean. It all depends on its fibers and how interlocked they are. And you never know what you are gonna get till you start cutting things. That’s...
The reason good respectable folks have a hard time making a living is some areas of our country. Tom, dick and Harry with a chainsaw. He should count his lucky stars, pay for the damages, and sell his chainsaw before he hurts someone.
Probably 18 years ago we had a similar situation. Notched...
My exact words then I bought the 15” bandit. It takes a lot of restraint not to send 15” of soft wood through and get it gone! I tried the m15r when we were demoing. The salesman let me tow it home with a half load of chips.... it was sketchy at best! Our ‘08 550 was lacking power, braking...
Would agree completely. Bought the 15” chipper to cover our growth for ten years! About that!!! Go big or go home! But stay within DOT regs in your area!
It has been said hidden hardware inside a log is what caused all this. They posted the chipper for sale (as is) but so far have refused to post pictures of the drum as multiple people have asked. Scary how easy this could happen to anyone!
That m15r is gonna be heavy. Really heavy. Don’t cheap out on the lighter one though (rx I think). 2 knives on that size machine will suck. The 15xp is 1500-2000 pounds lighter I believe, so it’s well worth looking at and they never thought about putting 2 knives in it.
Don’t believe either...
Well right on time for this discussion. NOT MY CHIPPER, but a local company to us.
I don’t believe there are any injuries from it, but it could account for the struck bys. Buyer beware, this piece is for sale!
You have completed missed the point. You are applying your general physics to an entire population of trees in all conditions. Which is why you should not teach this in this manner. Danny’s dead tulip tree is gonna react differently than the river birch we are gonna cut next week.
This whole...
