@Brocky ...how much climbing have you done on your 9mm htp with the wrench?
I came to the forum today to see if anyone has figured out a reliable ropewalking system for smaller ropes. I've been setting up highlines in the canopy with my friends a lot lately and Im getting tired of my yoyo...
I've never heard the term "hoar frost" but you are absolutely right. It disappears as soon as the sun hits it. It is even more crazy out in a thick forest but I don't think the beauty could be captured in a photo!
Seriously an incredible morning out in the countryside. Yesterday was a 12-hour blizzard and it made everything crappy as you can imagine. But I am being an optimist today and finding beauty where everyone else is just pissed about all the snow. Haha! I hope you enjoy your day!
@moss I'm sure I have asked you this question in the past but what do you do in all these trees you climb? I mean, are you a tree researcher of sorts? I feel like every post you make you are in a different state and climbing some new crazy tree and I am just curious to know your climbing story?????
My very first roped tree climb was in the disc golf course in West Saint Paul. There are some absolutely enormous cottonwoods at the bottom of the trails. I also lived in Chaska and Maplewood for a while but moved to South Dakota a few years ago. Big Woods State Park and Cannon River Wilderness...
Haha, I was expecting that you would pull it behind you but pushing it with the original handlebars is genius. I imagine you left the front brake on so that it doesn't shoot out in front of you on down Hills correct?
So this was the first treecamping trip where I was legit climbing somewhere that I shouldn't have been climbing. I set out without much of a plan other than to bike out into the country side and spend the night in the canopy. But considering my last two adventures ended with me almost being shot...
Most tree harnesses take up more space than my entire summer backpacking kit which is a big deal when traveling via bike. But I must admit that if I had the money I would own a tree harness for day climbs.
Haha! Awesome! I think thay was my video. I will be honest that it is not the most comfortable solution. I went back to tying everything into my belay loop.
Thanks for the compliments! I was given the black rope from a good friend in Minnesota. He is gear-finding-ninja and said he found this small shop that makes static ropes (similar to Sterling HTP) but for like $60 for 120'. Crazy prices apparently but I can't remember the business. I will try to...
This was one of the funnest tree camping adventures that I have been on! A gentleman from Iowa contacted me and said he wanted to go climbing so I invited this strange internet person into my house and it turned out to be an awesome decision because he was a riot and our adventure was amazing...
I couldn't climb in SD winters without them. I have actually gotten quite good at rigging gear and tying knots while wearing my mittens. Gloves just don't keep my hands warm if it's below 10 degrees Fahrenheit. If I have to do something that requires that I take off a mitten (like running a...
