Basically, for me, whoever is running against Trump has my vote. If it is Joe, he has my vote. A decent, experienced, well-meaning man, even if partly senile, is a better choice than a selfish, negative, divisive, egotistical, vindictive, lying felon and moron who, please remember, is not much...

    DMM Harness

I can shorten mine (Mumford's RollnLock mod) under load by putting a prussic on the tail right above the termination knot and then the end of my long lanyard tail onto the prussic, and the lanyard in my foot ascender and standing up on it, to pull the bridge rope thru and also relieve some of my...

    Knee Ascender

I have both the original SAKA and the Mini. Love 'em both. The Mini is great for rec climbing where you are hiking any real distance and carrying an absolute minimum of gear. Just wads up in your pocket or side pouch on the backpack. And I agree totally on supporting Richard. He has...

    Skylotec & Husqvarna Power Ascender

Awesome footage, Roger! Glad the unit is working out for you.

using a 24 strand for both single and double technique

'Soft and squishy' is exactly what I like about my Vortex Cool! Feels so good to the hands. Plays well with my adjustable BDB. Rather tricky to stuff it through my ZZ but once in there it works OK with that too. Some foot and knee ascender cams are a lot gentler than others, less sharp and...

    Skylotec & Husqvarna Power Ascender

With the $1500 unit in the video above, I would question the wisdom of disengaging the pinion to use it for descent. I think this is just asking for excessive pinion wear, or even outright destruction of it, if accidentally mishandled at all. And why the need to use it for descent when the...

Should Have Gotten A Patent, D’oh

Truth. I am third generation family machine works and foundry owner, with a number of patents among my immediate forebears. Total waste of time and money to have patented anything. It costs a fortune to patent something and there is no enforcement at all behind an American patent other than...

    Simple climbing setup

Second the recommendation for WesSpur above. Great people to deal with, always ship quickly, and some good sales at times. BUT, very dangerous to one's solvency to live near enough to visit their showroom in person.

    DMM Harness

The RollnLock mod that Mumford shows in one of his videos works instantly and is quite foolproof. While it cannot be adjusted under a load, I have never found that too big an issue. I can just momentarily stand up on a foot or knee ascender to unload the bridge and adjust it with the other hand.

    What the bananas

I have gotten caught in the rain twice on a ZZ and it was no problem. I have never had it slip and they are so smooth on descent. One has perfect, consistent control. Also, a ZZ is incredibly kind to the rope, no flattening at all or excessive friction, heat, etc. But, yeah, check the little...

    DMM Harness

I added a second bridge rope to my Onyx for the power ascender when I want to use it and I found I had to lengthen the main bridge at that point, to get the Bone up above the ascender since I use them both on the same rope (the modded Rollgliss is midline attachable in just seconds, so it comes...

    Skylotec & Husqvarna Power Ascender

Here is an interesting commercial one which uses a cordless drill, like our modded RollGliss units, but so far only for sale in Japan. Also, said to be rather particular about rope size. https://e.nsc-power-ascender.kentechsystems.net/about-nsc-power-ascender-pro/

    All the small things…

I welded an old bench vise to a piece of the square stock that fits in a trailer hitch socket. I can sit on a 5-gallon bucket behind my truck to use it for things like sharpening a saw or hacksawing stuff, etc. The vise was cast iron but you can weld that quite easy with a stainless steel rod.

Thermos full of coffee often works for me as tail weight.

    Donaghy's cougar rope

I feel blessed. WesSpur is a thirty-minute drive for me. (But the downside is a much abused VISA card).

Trump is starting his pre-election if-I-lose BS again. This time all the illegal immigrants are going to vote Left en-masse and steal the election. His massively fragile ego simply cannot grasp that maybe, just maybe, the majority of the American people have a brain that works and can see thru...

Hook line / long lanyard / short rope setup

I also use a 30 foot lanyard, both with and without a hook. I forget who told me about these extension cord storage thingies but they work great for looping your extra lanyard length. There was a thread on here some years ago. The rope pulls out easily and instantly from the flexible fingers...

Hook line / long lanyard / short rope setup

Sheet aluminium in this range of thickness is easy to cut with a woodworking bandsaw if you go slow and have a fine tooth blade.

Hook line / long lanyard / short rope setup

Remember some years ago we named that a HELL lanyard (Hook on Extra Long Lanyard). I love my 40 footer; use it almost every climb, both with and without the hook.

Another thing they don't get is that America isn't made great by just saying so and thumping our chests like some schoolyard bully. True greatness is when others feel you are great. Anyone with overseas relatives or business connections will tell you that Trump made us a laughingstock in their...
