What are you running for a mulcher set up?

Big orange currently has me running a takeuchi tl12 with a FAE head and a loftness gool flow mounted on the top. It is a pretty good set up but they are talking about buying a new machine to run. Possibly looking at the tl12v2. I was just curious what others have ran and how they liked it. It's...

Asplundh doing line clearance pruning with spikes

    New Harness?

It reminds me of the empire from treestuff. Which is essentially a light ergo. I had an empire for a couple of years and loved it in combination with an h harness if I was gonna be a full day take down. Im rocking the onyx now and love it.

    Tongue and groove cut

It is interesting. I have performed it on small trees for directional falling but never expecting it to hold itself up off of something. I don't believe or trust to work on any big trees. I would definitely go with high stumping if I had any doubt.

    Sterling scion reviews?

Scion is pretty durable. It is a nice firm line and should hold up fine to any gear.

    Contract climber diaries

Most climbers around here get 25-40$ an hour just showing up with their own climbing gear. If anyone shows up to help me we just agree on a price right off the bat and that is what they get paid a day. I base it on 8 hours and provide lunch, gloves, all rigging gear, saws, and pay cash in hand...

    New Saw and Tremotion Bridge

IF you are looking for a reliable saw to pull a 24" I'd recommend the 372xp from husky or 461 from stihl. Great saws in that range. I have a 372 and 576 ( non auto tune) They are both great.

Don't ask me how I know. I know you have some too, lets hear them.

Dropped chipper, backed up dumped, hooked up chipper..... left dumpsite. 2 miles down road ground guy gets a stupid look on his face... ask him what's up? He never opened the gate while dumping.... Back we went.

    Little tricks

Here in Iowa I end up doing a lot of silver maples and elms for some reason. A lot of the time I tip tie so they are butt heavy to lower them down or suck them back to rigging point. I have just found it more time efficient for me to use the throw ball. If I said I never take a pole into the...
