    I dont know either, but im thinking its because the wider part at the top allows a munter hitch to work properly, for all I know it may also bee what alloy its made out of, and how wear/heat resistant it is

    @metaspencer your a rrp guy, any input? I used a friends zigzag with a chicane SRT for 10 minutes or so, never thought I could get up and down a rope so smooth in my life

    what I do is put a bight of climb line thru my right side D, and clip a biner thru it as a friction brake, works good and the only possible thing I can drop is a carabiner

    I recently started hanging mine on the forward most gear loop on the left side, really good spot, was gonna go with a leg loop but found that to be too low, used to run it on my right calf but found that combined with spur straps to be a bit too much squeezing my calf, and it snagged ropes allot...

    you can, BUT if im doing it, im gonna do it the right way, no sense in dying over a few bucks anyone have any design ideas? im trying to avoid similar designs as the other ones

    it may be a few years (as I need the equipment, design and testing time) but I think I can get one cranked out, just trying to think of a design that isnt too similar to one of the other name brand devices

    defiantly, thats one reason I wear gloves, and I also use a hand ascender Ddrt instead of pulling with just my hand

    sorta, but, I like to use my lanyard as a second moving rope system allot, running on my bridge, and if I ever need it, I have a cord, 2 biners, and a pulley I can use for something worst case scenario

    I like the idea of the petzl one, BUT, you cannot connect it to itself like a pinto or hitchclimber, and you cannot whatsoever sideload it like a pinto or hitchclimber (not saying its a good idea for either of those, but its not horrible)

    lmao, ive ran a few (yale 11.7 "confetti", buckstrap, my old bluestreak one (dont try to find that thread, save yourself), and now my updated bluestreak lanyard (15ft 2 in 1) if im on spurs I like to use two, it adds stiffness

    I run a 40ft velocity long lanyard w/ tight eye, hitchclimber pulley running (currently) a 6 wrap 8mmOP distel and a 10mm beeline "floater", best lanyard ive ever used
