Sales, bidding, estimating: what's your style?

We have a local guy that actually tries to assert his dominance with customers. Hes even told them things like he knows all the tree guys and will get them blacklisted so no one will work on their trees. Real piece of work.

Our gmk3050 has been down with a computer problem. One of the cables in our wiring harness shorted power to the can line. It damaged the lmi module. We pulled it out and tore it down to see if it can be fixed instead of buying a $5400 module. Found a burnt resistor right off the bat. It ended up...

Free Buff from TreeStuff shipped in large box.

Im not Rico either but Im a big fan of the bucklites. I have 6 or 7 pairs of spikes. They are by far my favorite. They fit me really well. Im 6'2" and 220 so some of the spikes are a bit small on me. I tried a pair of aluminum geckos years ago but I have a 12w foot and my boots wouldnt sit flat...

The new chip truck needed one of the front tires replaced. It was worn beyond legal limit. We decided to tackle it as we have mounted many 11r22.5s with spoons but never a float. It went well but man that tire is heavy.

    LLC or INC

One thing to note, in our state if you have no employees and want to sign up for the state workmans comp, you have to file as an s corp. Something that may or may not apply in your state.

    LLC or INC

Llc can be setup like sole proprietor with protections or as an s corp. The s corp allows the owner to be an employee and be paid as one instead of a member draw with a normal llc. If employees are already on payroll, an s corp is just adding another employee as far as paperwork and filings. S...

We keep filling up the chip box on our forestry bucket truck multiple times a day. Our record is 7. We chip into our f550 as well but we really like the top off so we can easily load logs. We like to load as we go vs having to deal with a pile of logs at the end. Ive been casually looking around...

Had to break it all out today. Jib and boom are 136 ft together. Had a couple of tops and logs laying on this house at 100 ft radius. 2600 lb poplar log flying over the house. Dont use the jib much but when we do, we dont take it back down until we have to. Tried out these bagsters. They...

Yeah it slammed into the house hard. Lucky no one was injured. Yes the larger tree is a tulip poplar and the smaller was a hackberry.

Sometimes when you dont have enough crane capacity, you have to get creative. We had to cut in and stack cribbing to lift the tree off the house with a 30 ton jack. We were then able to crane out the rest of what was inside the house and have the remaining tree not fall on the house. We had to...

    Hung Pine Tree

Im with Rico. You are making this way more complicated and possibly more dangerous than this needs to be. You can always notch the top and back cut it so things dont happen as fast.

    2023 Contract Climber Rates?

Your market is very different obviously. Most full day crane jobs here are in the 4k to 6k range gross. Sure you can bid higher but you will not stay busy consistantly. I've never seen 10k days doing crane work and I have done so much of it I own two cranes and a 28 ton boom truck. From a...

    2023 Contract Climber Rates?

Rates in our area are very similar to Reach. We use several different contract climbers regularly. At $1400/day for doing crane work you would get laughed off the jobsite around here. By the time a company paid the climber plus picked up the workmans comp(22 percent here, so $308 additional)...
