A rough terrain crane followed me home the other day. We needed a bigger yard crane to load our gmk counterweights and do other tasks around the shop. We also have jobs we have to turn down because even our gmk wont fit. This will allow us to get into tighter spots at times. Our crane op had to...
Why are you trying to tackle rigging without a porta wrap or other device? Seems like that's step 1 for rigging practice. There's several good reasons most have moved away from natural crotch rigging.
I've used bot the sd50 and the sd64. Never used a tm series nifty but I have used a genie quite a bit. The trailer mounted sucks if you have to maneuver it with a truck. If a mini skid can be used that works much better. The side reach and the scoping out is much better on the 64. The 50...
What else are you going to do with sweat gum? There's much better stuff around here to make stuff out of. I'm just glad to see it stay out of the dump. That's where most of the sweat gum ends up. No one even wants it for firewood.
We took down a large sweat gum tree that was dropping limbs on the homeowners cars. The log weighed 6400 lbs. We were good for 11,200 due to the winch limit. The crane itself was good for 17,000.
I wish. No way the market here will support that.
Were rebushing the steering wishbones. They get play over time and it causes the rear axle to steer itself based on the crown of the road. Makes it a real handful to drive.
We had to take a large oak tree down that was just off the corner of the house. It was in rough shape from all the line clearance work. I really dont like craning stuff this close to the lines.
We took two trees down at the local tech school. I bet a lot of their students would have liked to watch but we did it on a Saturday so the parking lot would be empty. The last log was 3300 lbs.
Having gotten several none tree related things off Amazon that I question if they are counterfeit, I'm not sure I'm comfortable buying life support gear from them. Thanks for the heads up either way.
I run a 32 on both daily but have a 42 when needed. I've run a 36 but I don't like how awkward it is to get in my saw scabbard on my bucket truck. I do a lot of crane cutting larger wood from the bucket.
I have both a 395 and a 592 on the truck. The 395 is 10 yrs old and recently broke a chain adjuster screw. It was going to be a week or two for getting a replacement. We had a lot of large tree crane work already scheduled so I bought a 592. I'm impressed with it and now grab it first for big wood.
