I agree 100% @Chris Schultz ....both that most workers are actually employees (aside from independent contractors climbers, cranes, etc... working for multiple companies) and that it helps me sleep better knowing I'm doing everything I can figure out to follow the riles.
When I was first...
I've only heard of one tree company being busted for improper pay stuff... And that was by workers comp. I know they were underpaying by several hundred thousand dollars over the years but I don't remember if that was misreporting hours or classifications.
Unfortunately/ironically the...
The first and third pictures are on "soil" that was probably a constructed berm in the neighborhood of 25 years ago (When the trees were planted). I tried looking for low spots and high spots and they're really wasn't any rhyme or reason to that.
I haven't been on site to look at that middle...
Quite a bit of Arborvitae (T. occidentalis) (a lot of Emerald Green...but there's a lot of Emerald Green planted).
Just smoked coming out of winter. Established trees (ages 10-25 years). Somewhat randomly within rows.
Very wet spring 2025. Pretty much quit raining in late July and the...
I have a hood and vent everything outside, so not a huge concern...but yes, that's my primary concern. I suppose it really depends on what kind of plastic. I'm also not sure how it'd burn clean vs. melt and make a funky edge???
Doing it on a large scale, I'd sure they have a die cut stamping...
I'd rather cut wood than plastic with the laser cutter... If you just are doing business card shapes, you can cut those with other tools but I like the Washington State shape @southsoundtree had. PA would work well too. OH, is probably not an ideal card shape
@Matias would it be worth having a talk with them about temporarily bumping your base pay since you are not earning commission because somebody else is not doing their job to help with marketing to get new clients? They might say no to that, but maybe that will get the ball rolling faster...
I got a lot or removal referrals when specifying (multiple times) that we didn't want those. Took 10-15 of calls every time to get it credited back.
Then, yes, tire kickers.
But the worst was when I'd get a referral, call right away and they'd act like it was a spam call. Me: "Hi, you...
Coming in that's, in theory, good. Going out that's bad.
I record everything because, among others:
1) my primary goal in doing taxes is not go to jail.
2) if I want to value the business accurately, it needs to be recorded
3) one day I may want to collect social security (not that I'm sure...
Nothing "wrong" with cash for referrals. I'm just thinking if it is $xx off invoice (which I did when I thought I wanted followers on FB and it worked) vs here's $xx it's easier to manage. They'll subscribe/follow/comment as they are paying an invoice instead of trying to remember to do it...
Instead of cash payment, I'd do discount off of invoices for reviews or following you social media (if you are going to use social media to market).
I'd pay for referrals from other home service providers...like the lawn mowers, realtors, even plumbers and electricians working on houses see...
I'd go with a solid "yes"...good safety training is better than PPE. (doesn't eliminate use of PPE...just comes first)
PPE is the last line of defense...its there if all else fails. Stop other failings and your last line is always in place and ready, but never used.
