You are obviously speaking for the small 'mom and pop' operation,
I doubt many tree company's set there schedule according to the employee's biological clock,
It also has to do with your demographic's,
We are 35 miles north of San Diego, if the job is down there, that is about an hour and a half...

Lets say I am on a job that has a couple thousand trees, they vary between many species, so you prioritize the first year with an inventory of all the the trees on the property and put them on a plan that may mean some trees every and some trees every 5 years, this proposal...
I am the Operations Manager with our company, we also have branches in LA and Inland Empire.
We have a person that does marketing for us, we work for school districts, city's, HOA's, Golf courses,etc,,
We offer multiple year tree care plans. Also, good relationships with property management...
We are booked months ahead and we have jobs that we know we will be doing next year and the year after that, that being said, we are a TCIA Accredited company and we do very little residential.

Really tho, you sound like me 17 years ago, all I wanted to do is climb, started in 1978, then came 2001,
I was 40 years old then, climbing all over so-cal, then came a wife and kids and aging, falling asleep with no dinner and my boots still on and waking...
Mark was here for the last 2 days in Balboa Park for the annual SDPTCA Seminar and Field Day, I think he did a great job and all my guys were impressed,,
