That does look like it. This specimen is supposedly over 50 years old, it looks that well established too, with a solid trunk especially compared to the bushes most of these seem to be. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the blossoms that change color. I saw it with my own eyes over the...
That's 2.5 wraps in my book. With such a big piece I might use that or even three depending on the wood, but again, that's with a bigger rope. I stand by my previous post but nonetheless encourage you to inspect the porty thoroughly for burrs (or nails in the stem?). No doubt you have already...
To me, that sounds like a big piece for a 1/2". Following the numbers and please correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the WLL for rigging 15%, as opposed to the 10% for climbing. This means the WLL for the rope was 1185. You claim the piece was probably around 1325. Then of course it's dynamic...
Great Info, I really appreciate it. I think the husky 562 and stihl 362 might still have a bit more weight than I was hoping to find, I was looking to shed about one or two more pounds so I may have to give this 261 c-mq a spin... i like that auto lock too.
As for the ladybug, I just wanted to...
I'm looking for a saw, on the lighter side, to bring aloft that can pull 20" nicely.
My 372 is just a bit too much for me if I forget to eat my spinach.
Thoughts or other suggestions?
Thanks!

Thanks guys! I was hoping someone might have some info about big bracing, and that photo is wild, and makes quite an impression, what a great tree!
The tree is actually in the family (neighbor has notified of the hazard) and I just got back from climbing it (for fun). Unfortunately it wasn't...
I used to look at cables and braces with derision. "Just let the tree do what it will, if it is dangerous, remove it and use the opportunity to plant a new one!" The un-natural look of it, the attempt to control nature, the beauty of the tree being messed with...
I have recently found an Ash...
Nick I'm on board. And I agree that the word "most" implies that up to 49% of trees MAY be infected by a disease that is transmitted by pruning tools (and yes, that's just the ones we know of). At the same time I try to think about all the trees I have pruned, or better yet, someone else who...
Looks to me like your notch wasn't level? I'm not sure if that is what you guys meant by "off to the left" but it appears that the notch was horizontally tilted to the left, towards the direction it landed.
I have a fair amount of faith that the effort the tree will be expending this year and in future years after hard prunes to leaf out will cause a slowing in root growth and may achieve the goal of saving the wall. Kudos for trying.
I do like the idea of root pruning and wonder how many arbos...
Yup, use them all the time with regards to looking for tree pest id. I find 10x is best for that application, I imagine 7x is fine for what you are using them for and Bushnell's are great. Auto focus uses batteries I think? I prefer manual but if you roll like that, good on you!
I have often wondered about this topic and on occasion I give my blades an alcohol bath, but when I read this in Gilman's pg. 118 I felt a lot of relief...
"Most trees that are pruned are not infected with a disease that is transmitted by pruning tools, so disinfection is not recommended."
It...
So dope! May I ask what powerhead you were using and what length blade? I am still trying to find my perfect weight to power ratio, and that looked really nice, or maybe it was just your skills that made it look so?
