How about if handsaw teeth somehow accidentally find their way to tied off side of rope, or what about nails in the base missed even if inspected. Is it known, has a rope ever broke on anyone ascending srt in one of these ways? Cuz I feel pretty vulnerable going up like this.
I just rope walked yesterday for the first time. Yay for me. But curious on your opinions….
Does anyone else get freaked out having all your weight on one leg with a basal anchor?
I haven’t started climbing around srt yet, but I’m wondering if anyone prefers going up traditional foot locking...
Around 2006 when I saw Mike Stanonik tie a running bowline around the base of a Masters Challenge Tree. Never forget it . So cool.
I immediately tried footlocking up a single leg and didn’t like it. Once I got to the top I was freaked out about how much weight I was putting on my rope. I was...
I couldn’t find a topic on Bee Line. Can somebody tell me the MBS tensile strength of the 8mm? I have a catalog that says 8000, and so did the girl when I called. But then I went on the I internet and saw it around 6400, which is what they alway said it was years ago. I called back and this...
What is the minimum breaking strength allowed by ANSI? Isn’t in the same for all fall protection gear and expressed in kilonewtons? Like 23kn I’m guessing cuz a lot of biners are 24
Wow shocking video. I get confused. “demonstration shows how dynamic loads are apt to get an arborist in trouble”…..aren’t we dynamic loads. Do they mean if an arborist’s dynamic body load climbed and fell on a static rope they could get into trouble?
So all our climbing lines are designed to...
Dude!!?! It’s like you’re inside my head. I exercise on those stairs regularly. Tons of people do. They closed sledding a long time ago and actually demolished and removed them I think less than ten years ago. And there are great hiking trails with awesome old oaks and deep ravines there...
Thanks roxy. Gosh it’s so hard to choose which rope to get. There’s so many things to consider. Tensile strength is probably what I value the most. But I won’t buy it unless I love the color. Is that an oxymoron?
Yeah I bought the silver ivy thinking it was poison ivy and came to find...
I just did more reading and called Yale. No wonder my silver Ivy feels different than my calamine….it is different. And now I see why everyone loves blue moon….cuz it’s exactly like the old poison ivys. Duh.
Hey hi, can you or anyone else say more? What do you think makes Vortex better?
I’ve always loved the 11.7 poison ivys’ in the hand and all around. (Which for me is footlocking and MRS). I had my mind made up on a Tangent. That’s why I’m curious what makes Vortex better for you? Thanks in...
Started in 2000 at age 24. I worshipped Mark and Beddes. I was considered a progressive climber back then. I’m 47 now and only a few side jobs come my way a year. But they still make me feel good. The other day I tuned into Beddes’ 2007 Masters climb and saw for the first time him tie into...
