It was a nice spring day today (for a change). I wanted to climb and I wanted to hammock....so I put them together and hung the hammock at 60'. A good time was had.
I thought that was what I was talking about too.:)
One 200' rope with a canopy anchor, SRT on the fixed leg and a DdRT system on the tail (canopy anchor pull down side) of the same rope.
Unless you pull it, the SRT line is always there ready to take you to ground. If you did pull out the SRT canopy anchor, you then have enough rope to go to ground DdRT.
Granted, there are times when you have switched to DdRT, have left the SRT canopy anchor in place 85' up, but disconnected...
I've adopted yoyoman's 'DdRT setup on the SRT rope tail' method. Ascend SRT with a canopy anchor, pull up the DdRT tail if or when you need it, set the DdRT while still on the SRT, clip into the DdRT. You are now on both systems and can work that way or unclip from the SRT and go DdRT only. If...
I saw the new Prism on treestuff today. Pretty. I'm not sure why Yale has so many color versions of the same rope.
I find the 3/4" bollard gives me the best performance on the Yale 11.7's.....no "controlled glide", easy release and speed control.
I prefer to be against the trunk while ascending SRT. Having my toes against the trunk helps to keep me upright and takes much of the load of staying upright off my arms. This may not make as much difference for you skinny guys.
I 'accidently' stitched up a thimble loop today. When I started, I was just curious how well the Bee Line would fit the thimble I had and after my earlier "break testing" of the Marlow #4 twine, if it would fit the speedy stitcher needles I had. It all fit so I figured I would round off and...
Disclaimer...I have just started hand stitching rope but have done a fair amount of machine sewing webbing and a very limited amount of machine stitching small diameter accessory cord and shock cord.
The #4 whipping twine from Marlow is a waxed polyester twine and should do a good job for a...
I ascended SRT on a canopy anchor. The zigzag and leather FS were set up DdRT on the non-climbing leg of the rope still on the ground. I only used the Roll N Lock as a pulley to pull up the 115' leg with the zigzag and to make sure I didn't drop it. It was stowed away shortly after the photo. To...
Thanks, this made today's climb a little less concerning.
After the MagThrowBag had done it's job...time to try out the zigzag...
Photo from half way across...
Zigzag doing what it does...
WOW...this thing takes a light touch. Me likey. :sisi:
An hour of practice with the magthrowbag...
