I tried the BDB using the 3/4" bollard with Platinum 11.5 today. As with my basement testing it worked well with no surprises. I'm not a big fan of Platinum in general, but now I know how it does with the bone and my ~185 lbs including gear.
Interesting. I recently got an APTA and first used it attempting to place dynaglide throw line over a crotch ~100' up. I had more problems with birds nests that day than any time using the BS. I wondered if I was having a bad day or if the APTA reached it's speed more quickly and contributed to...
I frequently (many times a day) use the 'mark forums read', 'new posts', 'post reply' and 'upload a file' tabs and have not seen the problem you describe on either my laptop or desktop computers...both running Chrome.
There's your problem right there. Get out in the trees before you mod it too much.
Apparently, I may not have climbed with the BDB on Platinum 11.5 yet, but in the basement testing I just did, it behaved well with the 3/4" bollard running over the same section of rope repeatedly. I tried my...
I'm still not understanding this at all. With Tachyon 11.5, Platinum 11.5 and Yale 11.7's, I do not get even close to an objectionable amount of drag on ascent. Other's are happily using Vortex 12.7.
The only way I can get drag, is to have my tending method and saddle bridge set up so that the...
Ragnar...after almost a year of climbing SRT, Richard's video that you posted got me to climb on a blake's hitch for the first time (figured I should have it in the "tool box"). Thanks!
It got me up 40' and back down, but it sure made me appreciate SRT for access and the hitch climber pulley...
I tried the BDB on 11mm NE Fly today since I already had it in the tree. It worked surprisingly well with the 3/4" bollard. Only went up 45' and down once so it was a very limited trial. While the Fly had all the initial stretch I remember, it didn't have the bounce I expected and climbed...
My 0.02 for the way I climb, so take for what it's worth.
Unless you have someone with you that is trained on the exact lowerable base tied system you are using, the rescue setup is worthless (IMHO). Even if you are able to call for help with a cell phone, first responders aren't likely to be...
