Dude I remember seeing that pic and thought to my self " Man,I'd love to have a super pic like on my fliers!" Congrats bro (Serious case of photo envy!)!!!!!!!!!
EZ You just got that for buying some sherrill gear!!!!!! If I had a digital camera I'd have one too!!!!!!
Graeme McMahon!!!! There's no introduction needed there! I have utmost respect for that guy. His skills are insane. Shortly after I started climbing I remember watching this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6hEfav9ZwI&feature=related
and staring in disbelief. I thought If I could...
What I wasn't sure is if the claw was hooked on the branch or over and around the rope. I experimented a little with some homemade prototypes and didn't really find something that hooked like I liked. It had a tendency to roll off the branch sometimes. Any pics of the ones they use (I've saw...
You're in BC try to get with some of those toppers for helilogging outfits. They call this clawing. I want to learn this real bad but I haven't been able to get someone with exp to show the exact technique.
South coast standing stem is one company in BC they were on heliloggers...
how do you all store your cable? I've saw cutting the side wall out of a tire to store it. That works ok . But I remember seeing somewhere a better way with a homemade system but for the life of me I can't remember what it was!!! (No one else has that peoblem do they?!) I just got a glance at...
Re: Why the F*%$ isn\'t Topping illegal?
Jamin, that's what I do. Instead of trying to convince them on the phone that topping is bad if the want it. I go meet them and explain what the difference is. I usually if I do that they are ok with not topping where on the phone they will just call...
Should have known that last year. I was sick on the "deadline and didn't get it sent so I figured It was too late. Would have been plenty of room in shreveport! Coulda shoulda woulda!
I got good news today! James Earhart from MidAtlantic (08 champ) will be competeing! It'll be good to compete with the guy that taught me to climb! BOO YA!
That sounds not too bad. mine is a ex city unit. It could have been been greased a little more but not bad. Had to replace those bushings. Since he isn't say a vermeer dealer I would'nt be too afraid of this. Does he sell chippers on a regular basis or is this an exception. Especially if he'd...
That does seem a little unusual on the price at a dealer. Is it a "tree" dealer or something else?
On those 1250/1230's the feed roller slides are the biggest thing to look at. If not enough grease they will wear alot in one area for smaller branches an them have trouble opening up for bigger...
How familliar are you with chippers? Do you know how one like this should work, sound, start ect? We don't have bandits much around here So I don't know where any trouble spots might be. But in general
Engine Should start up within a couple cranks, no white smoke ect. Let it get to normal temp...
Re: buying a chipper with 2 radiators. problems
If it were me I'd REALLY lean towards the JD. Of course if its slap wore out it wouldn't be better. I'm not a fan of john deere but I think you would be happier with it.
John deeres are good motors just they are a harder to work on and the...
Re: Arizona Tree Climbing Championships
Man, YOUR CLIMBING SUCKS!!!!! Love you! Were they going on "geezer time" 7:00 work climb?
Those eucs sure do look like they would be slick. Probably good you don't get much rain then they would be like ice!
The KEY to solving that issue is the right length of prusic, and the proper # and type of wraps. You might try using a knotted prusic cord for a little while to experiment with the effects of different lengths without having to buy 5 different ones.
The top wraps on a VT are the "grab" part...
