New Choking Crane Sling Stays on Hook

Yeah those are the ones. I would buy those that are rated and strong instead of this new design here.

New Choking Crane Sling Stays on Hook

The other option if your looking to have a quick connection is the Gambo...Or Gumbo hooks. I know Mayer Tree Service uses them and they are rough, tough, and snap on super quick.

    Gerasimek's Tree-mek

Does anyone own one close to Southern VT that I could come and check out with my crew?

    Gerasimek's Tree-mek

That was an excellent reply. I want to see one of these in action. The labor pool is shrinking in my area...or I am just too picky. I do agree that if done properly for me, that being a very large knuckle boom with a place to load logs onto the truck could cut down on a lot of our equipment...

    Gerasimek's Tree-mek

I know you have stated this before about saving money. But I would be really interested in looking at this compared to a 3 or even 4 person crew. I am willing to be what your saving in labor costs your loosing in productivity. Again, this is a great tool for a company that wants to stay small...

New Choking Crane Sling Stays on Hook

I willing to bet my crew can get a traditional sling off and on a piece just as fast, if not faster. We have the security of knowing its not going to fall off. I think it could be practical in some situations. I just don't know about the security and longevity of it. I would be nervous of...

    Bandit 1590xp or M15R

I agree with this...and I own a Morbark. I had the bottom feed wheel brake, along with 100s if not 1000 of other people. They did nothing to remedy this to save their name. Also one of the problems is Morbark is connected with Nortrax...they are a HUGE dealer and distributor. However they know...

    Getting into the CRANE GAME

Anyone thinking of getting into the crane game should check this out. Pretty decent deal at face value. I would dig in deeper if your interested. But, this could be a good start and then in a couple years trade it in for something bigger. Pretty good chart around up to 50 feet, 95 feet of live...

Sub contract work for other companies?

I have some experience with this: Here are some answers to your questions! 1) The subject was approached when they came to me. Usually because they needed help with a job, a tree, or just straight up advice on an issue or problem. 2) I offer all services and custom build them to meet the...

    Bandit 1590xp or M15R

If you want the biggest and best chipper under 10K pounds you will want to go up one class. The bandit 18XP and the Morbark M18RX are both under the 10K pounds towing capacity. I am not sure what those have for engines or if the increased in HP would allow for a higher weighted machine. But both...

    Log Truck

My next truck is going to be a glider. Brand new chassis and frame and then I am going to custom add in the engine, rear end, and transmission. No computer...just a mechanical engine with out all the computer BS!! Then mount an EZ lift log loader on the rear with a cab. There pretty sweet and it...

    Log Truck

Sorry @BoulderHill1177, I didn't mean to grab the last one!! But thats my competitive edge:). I'll keep my eyes peeled for you. I agree with JasonK. The rear mount is instrumental with doing residential tree work.

    Double sling pick.

Thats a good question...I also would like to know the answer to that. I wonder about capacity though. From some of the charts I have looked at, the same size stick crane verse K booms seams to be a lot less capacity in the K boom. Am I wrong with this thinking?

    Double sling pick.

Mark, I would really like to take you up on that sometime. Your actually not that far from me. My Foreman is a 56 year old tree man who is really amazing...but he can not wrap his head around the K-Booms. I understand why, because he has 30 years of running and climbing off of a traditional...

No Kidding!! I would be interested in trying it out sometime. I will volunteer to come down and work with you guys for a day as a climber, or operator....or both with your remote:)

    Morbark broken lower feed wheels

I know of people who have 15"s, 18"s and 20"s who all have had the lower feed wheel brake, right where it is mounted to the hydraulic motor.
