    Auger on Kboom?

James. Are you saying when extended fully out and the lift capacity is at it's lowest? A Toro Dingo can operate a 36" auger and lift the dirt out just fine.

    two tulips across driveway

[ QUOTE ] I think he was referring to the length of the video. SZ [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Aha, "5 minute" video. My apologies Daniel. I can certainly admit when I'm wrong. [/ QUOTE ] I can relate. I stick my foot in my mouth often.

    150% Heavier: Spring Growth Flush?

Is this possible? I was doing a tree removal at 100' out with a 40tonner. We were confused by the loads reading 150% heavier than the current Green Log Chart. In the past, when referring to the GLC we can dial in our weight guesstimates really well. But, we were finding the GLC to be off...

    soil comapction at ISA events

[ QUOTE ] I've read the biggest change in soil aeration comes from the first drive over the area. [/ QUOTE ] I think that was in the Arborst News Mag. I think it's some thing like "60% of the soil compaction is on the first pass."

    Auger on Kboom?

Has anyone seen an auger mounted on a Kboom? I imagine it wouldn't be a difficult attachment to create. An auger motor could hang from the hook (at the least) and connect into the hydraulics. This would be awesome for mass planting jobs.

    Creative camera work removal vid

Nice. Looked like a fun location and a fun tree to bomb stuff. Watch the big leader at 1:30-1:33. We've all seen this type of situation before... a branch broke from the tips and came back towards the groundies chipping. Besides being a nice video, I think there as a teachable moment here...

    Tie into Load Line:OSHA Regs

I've never understood why we can't put a wire rope grab and/or prussik on the actual cable (both could be possible). It would abviously be placed above the ball. If, for some crazy reason, the ball came off the cable, the climber could stay on the cable... Granted... if the ball fell... it...

    It's Sooo Big.....

Re: It\'s Sooo Big..... [ QUOTE ] Interesting topic TH. I see this all the time here in Louisville. When I get an appointment, most times the note will say "large tree in front yard - prune or remove". It seems in this market, people are willing to accept the idea that they might have to...

I understand David's reasoning. Never-the-less, what happened to 223Tree... Dang! That could have been insainely bad him and for our industry.

I didn't pay attention to the other stuff. Oops. So, maybe Sherrill's price is not so bad. How did you destroy yours Eric? Too cold of a day?

    Alturnamat prices

Daniel. What was your purchase price back then? Eric. That is a good price. It's 10% less per sheet than Sherrill is offering. I do find it interesting that Sherrill is selling 12 packs for $2,739. That equates to $228/sheet. I thought buying in bulk reduced the price per item...

    Alturnamat prices

[ QUOTE ] Without the ribbing, those will shoot right out from under the tires on a slope, or rain, snow, frost, pavement, concrete, etc. Just sayin'. [/ QUOTE ] I've certainly thought the same... They wouldn't be perfect for those conditions. But, for most conditions, they'd be fine. I'm...

    Rigging Point Failure

[ QUOTE ] I agree with Derrick, if you add another pulley or re-direct, to open up the rope angles, you can significantly cut down the forces being applied... [/ QUOTE ] Indeed. Treezybreez: Thanks for posting this. Any lateral limb/leader for 100% of rigging is bound to fail some day...

Aren't Alturna Mats made of polyethylene? Speaking of thiking out of the box... I've often wondered why people don't buy polyethylene sheets from other sources. Couldn't these work? 1/2" thick 4'x8' is only $150ea. http://www.farmtek.com/farm/supplies/pro...835_108394.html
