I suppose with some baller throwline skills you could remote set the long sling too. Lol I can dream of being that good sometime... In 10 years lmao
You could also make some custom version of a double snapper it other retrieval link that works with 5/8 splices as an add-on if you want (though...
So having been using mine for a while, couple requests maybe if you're still in the redesign phase...
Can a small flat plate be added to the top side of the ascender backup. I've been attaching a zigzag to the line and using the ascender to push it up the rope so it's easy to transfer over to...
This would make sense, except for the fact that most of the standards are piecemeal at best... Look how long it took Europe to even allow using a rope wrench, or the issues with the Akimbo/runner/unicender that I doubt are ever going to be resolved because there is no relevant standard to test...
Believe it or not, I actually find myself 1 handing less with a 2511 than I did with my 200/201...
I'm honestly not sure if it's the lack of power (relatively speaking) and I'm less inclined to reach out and zip something off... Or if the ergonomics of the side handle are better and more...
I thought I was the only one to figure that out... I upgraded the bowline to a steel rigging carabineer...
On topic, there's also some options from the Rock climbing world that will hold a carabineer open and allow you to remotely clip into something if that's your goal (only thing I can think...
I'd be willing to bet there is a substantial licensing fee to antal or whoever owns the patent on those rings... Just because we use it differently in the arb world doesn't mean it isn't already someone else's intellectual property... Sherrill could patent the slings and their arb use I...
Why not an end to end splice? Also those pulley Rico shared are used by Lineman all the time for pulling in New cable... All sorts of sizes and options and strengths that can get downright obseen
Funnily enough I'm the opposite, 1 hand when climbing way more than I bucket. I think it's because I can more quickly easily and quickly rig things, and I'm much more inclined to snap cut things (especially bigger wood) when it's above rather than below me
Any links to the cousin splices? If seen the splife videos, and the diagnostic ones for the cousin, just wondering if the manufacturer posted something
My concern is that were taking one injury for another. Doing line clearance a. LOT of the time brush needs to be handled and tossed and that many snap cuts I can already feel taking it's toll. I can feel every snap on my wrists, and elbows, plus the shoulders.
Webbing straps are no better, and...
Only time I've had a multicender collapse, I foolishly clipped a speedlines sling above my zigzag to hold it for a moment and it had enough weight to collapse it and send me for a bit of a ride.
I've also gone to sit back on a hitch and had it not bight completely.
Neither is perfectly safe...
We tried failing a zigzag yesterday by knitting the top plate during setup. Grabbed Everytime, it would creep, but no free fall... Tested with brand new tachyon and a yard zigzag plus, your results may vary, but I'm not concerned
According to teuf. (Though I can't find it) The slaice didn't fit either, and they want their vendors to be able to do the splice, which they couldn't do with the slaice...
Not much of an improvement in my book, especially with the deceased break strength of the splife splice
Sadly the tachyon teufelberg splice isn't the same, it still leaves core strands in the eye and, despite being smaller than a traditional eye splice, still won't fit through a zigzag. though it's not the eye itself, but the throat that's too large, so perhaps with some modification to the core...
