So as I ponder chippers you guys and gals get to answer all my annoying questions

@monkeylove I wouldn't be afraid of a CDL. Its just you so why not?... The cost is the same as your pickup truck and chipper. A $30K grapple truck is a drop in the bucket compared to Rick's Yoo's Crane. Its also quieter than a chipper... by a lot. What is your business model? That would help...

So as I ponder chippers you guys and gals get to answer all my annoying questions

@monkeylove Not to throw a wrench into your spokes here, but I think you should sell your truck and buy a small grapple truck for the following reasons: Your truck is an f350. With chips in the bed you're already overweight. Add a larger chipper and you are breaking stuff/getting tickets. You...

When the paper hits the hand...

I agree with royce. Transparency is best. They are foolish if they don't know the prices of the work they are doing and better they know now than find out later. Also if the employees know the price of the job they will learn to associate how much time to allow for the work. It may even help you...

    Customer financing options?

For the size of most jobs done in tree work, 3rd party financing should most likely be a credit card. Seems unnecessary to have to use a new line of credit set up just to pay for tree work. We offer no financing, take no credit cards, and bill for cash or check on completion and give 30 days for...

New Toro Tx 1000 Wide Track

Lots of equipment doesn't mean they are doing well financially. However, I am always a skeptic about a company's financial stability.

    Toro SGR 13 Stump Grinder

Got ours out again today. This is the only reason I own one. We used to just say we couldn't do a stump with bad access. People understood and hired us for just tree removals. I purchased a tiny grinder like this to offer service that others can't. It's a strategic move for us to make sure we...

Used my dinosaur to load this 15' long 40" wide oak log. Allows me to make thousands of dollars slabbing it instead of pennies making firewood.

    Bluebird SG1314A Stump Grinder

is it for a primary machine? I have a sc372 that we use for all stumps big to small. I recently bought a toro 13hp grinder we use for poor access stumps. Before we used to turn away stumps if they were on top of retaining walls or places we couldn't get our big grinder to. It takes forever to...

    Mini skid vs articulated loader

Has anyone seen or heard much about the Vermeer CTX 100? How does that compare to the 725? I understand it weighs more but can lift more. Which do buzzers think will be the better machine?

Pictures of your chipper truck, lets see them!

We do a lot of removals. Our chipper is 18". Its not uncommon to make 60-75 cubic yards a day. If you are just pruning, that looks like a sweet rig. I love cab overs.
