Toro SGR 13 Stump Grinder

Got ours out again today. This is the only reason I own one. We used to just say we couldn't do a stump with bad access. People understood and hired us for just tree removals. I purchased a tiny grinder like this to offer service that others can't. It's a strategic move for us to make sure we can cover our customer's needs.

Renting one is a good idea. Problem is I have the opportunity to buy this handheld at a decent price now. Subbing it out is giving up cash too and the idea of that stings as well.

Subbing out a stump for a little money, means you can do another climbing job with the gear you have.

My sub has a 60 hp stumper. He will do a stump in 20% of the time. Small stumpers can't tolerate duller teeth like a big one. You have to dig out more, if you have a lot of rocks...lots of glacial outwash soils here.

I just rented a Barreto SG30 that I was really impressed with, Huge swing. Great maneuverability. I did 18 in a marathon day, at three places, one being afterhours at a commercial building.

Maybe line up stumps and rent.

Right after than rental, my sub blew out a nice alder stump in 20 minutes. A 13 HP machine would have been HOURS.

If you're only doing PT, don't worry about providing everything.
