Also thinking that tether is a huge no-go. I understand it might pull down to engage the teeth, but it also looks like it could pull the wrong way and literally disengage the teeth.
You may be right. Maybe it is a system that you need to pull tension on each time you want to move, and perhaps it will take a sharp tug. I haven't used mine enough to know.
Hmmm, I used my new Roll N' Lock and PETZL Rollclip carabiner all weekend while clearing 6 small trees. I used it in the same configuration as you describe, but as a mechanical advantage to put a load on branches/tiny trees to direct their fall. Didn't slip even a tiny bit.
Rope was Hyperclimb...
EDIT: I had no idea what picture you were talking about, but now I realize you mean the one in my logo. No, that is the actor from the TV show "The Rookie", Nathan Fillion. The funny thing is that we look a little alike. He's like my handsome nephew. :)
I'm 60, with lots of German and Native...
My entire safety lens is 2.0 diopters. I've adjusted to where I can see long distances clearly even when looking through reading glasses. Bought them on one of the arborist sites.
That's almost as funny as you thinking "it will take 10-20" years to mean "we can't do it in less". It's literally mundane to land a man on the moon. Given the funds I'm sure they could make it happen in less than a year.
One thing that can make SRT harder is short legs and a big chest. I'm 5'8" with a 29" inseam, so pretty long wasted. Top heavy is not the optimum. Still, no MRS for me.
