Remington Oysters?
Needed something for scale.Remington Oysters?
I usually use pine needles and leavesNeeded something for scale.![]()
Lovely, Mr Serf! As for ID, I'd start with Fomitopsis pinicola. Yes, the epithet (the second part of the scientific name) indicates hitting pine species, and that is true, it's one of the comparatively few switch hitters for both pine and hardwoods. I think I've only seen it on paper birch. And here it is! Or, I'd be happy to consider an alternative. I'm forgetful these days!
Here is another USFS publication:Mr Smith, you seem to be pretty dialed in on the crud. I'm wondering if you, or anyone else has any favorite texts/resources to recommend for fungal ID specifically relating to tree care?
That is either a really big mushroom or a really small person!
I do not know my mushrooms very well at all, but clearly those do get big. That’s a beautiful specimen! Hopefully it is not destructive to living wood.Red belt get pretty big, she’s 3.5 yo so not huge but it was a good conk
