Time constraints are essential. Best work is done against the clock.

    Artemis II

I usually get people (unprompted) explaining why they want the tree out, I listen for a bit, but if it gets boring or they’re labouring under the delusion I care, I tell them, you don’t need to justify it to me, you want it out, I’ll do it.

    Artemis II

Posted this elsewhere. Around 60 years after man made his first powered flight, he flew to the moon, got out, drove a car (which is still there and and can be seen apparently) jumped about, played golf, got back in and flew back. An incredible quantum leap in technology. Now nearly 60 years...

It’s nothing to do with an Echo Bearcat.

    Tree failed with no warning

A lot of what gets climbed is dodgy, which is why it’s being climbed. Species is another factor in the decision making process. Neg rig off a rotten silver maple or cottonwood? No thanks! Oak or similar…possibly.

True about tall conifers. We don’t get as many (or probably as tall) as you but it’s hard to get far enough away to get a decent rope angle.

Think he means the plastic curtain in the hopper.

Even if you cannot get the brash into the rollers, laying it on the hopper saves a hell of a lot of effort.

You were kicked out for being a pain in the ass and not shutting up about it.

I suppose we’ll never see the pics of the top or why it broke. Anyway, poor bastard, RIP.

    Avant Thread!

I had it on my Multione a few years back, I was on full reach up high with a fixed grab angled up to pull a branch out of some bamboo. A fixed grab (150 odd kilos off solid metal) detached itself and rolled down the arm towards me in the cab, only the hydraulic hoses stopped it from squishing...

How do you turn down work?

I tell them I don’t want to do the job, or I just don’t put a quote in.

What's on your mind? TCI Magazine wants to know

I use a Prussik every day, it ain’t how quick you get there, it’s the decisions you make when you’re there that determine if a job goes quickly or not.

What's on your mind? TCI Magazine wants to know

Yes, probably right, with NC rigging and stubs there’s nothing to sell.

What's on your mind? TCI Magazine wants to know

Natural crotch rigging and climber lowering branches using stubs. Let’s not pretend it doesn’t happen, why not discuss techniques?

    Do I have a problem?

Everyone has their thing, like Neil I have no yen for mechanicals, I’m happy with a prussik. Finding the perfect trim saw is my never ending quest. 2 x 2511s 1 x 201 2 x Husky battery saws 1 x Husky 540 petrol.

It was performative, in my opinion, ‘look at me, I really care about nature‘n’shit, I’m sooo spiritual‘
