    "Redwood Season" Arrived

Re: \"Redwood Season\" Arrived [ QUOTE ] Dear Lord those trees are big. [/ QUOTE ] And those were just the baby sprouts of that tree. The much larger parent trunk of those root sprouts is mostly hidden in the middle area. But for basal sprouts, they sure did some hefty girth over time. ...

What's different, significantly, about the TCIA handout? Reason I ask ... is the the local power company here in Oregon, has to the endth-degree, educated the public about working in the vicinity of power lines and the dangers involved. So I'm wondering if there is new news or information in...

The most amazing thing about trees!

That was a very good video. I've been aware of what's in it for quite some time, but thought they did an exceptional job of presenting it. Shared it on Facebook from my Redwood Forest page, and it got a lot more shares. I can see why it's popular. ...

    Redwoods & July

The photo below was from a set at day's end, in Prairie Creek. Up in Jedediah Smith redwoods to the north, almost 2 years ago, a reflection photo at the Smith River is was started my quest with portraiture. So this Prairie Creek image comes back "full circle" for me.

False Claims of being a CA

One thing that comes to mind for me anyway, I don't expect an ISA certification to just be a minimum standard or bench mark. Because the word "ARBORIST" is in it. It shouldn't be that someone who barely has any hands-on experience or ability should be able to take the test and become a...

False Claims of being a CA

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Don't you also need three years experience? [/ QUOTE ] Theoretically. But what does three years experience mean? It is just an arbitrary somewhat meaningless benchmark prerequisite anyway. My recently departed (quit) groundie couldn't tie knots, climb, coil rope...

    Giant Sequoia

[ QUOTE ] The worst site I saw on my trip was in a fire cave on the backside of a giant. Poop and poop paper. Makes me sick how some people treat these places...... I'll get some pics up hopefully next week. Took a couple thousand, so it's taking me a while just to look through them all. [/...

    Giant Sequoia

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Why is that stump cut so shinny? Is it petrified? Thanks for the pics. [/ QUOTE ] I don't really know. I don't remember it being petrified though. [/ QUOTE ] Been a long time since it was cut. And I think a lot of people have been climbing over the surface. That and time...

Sir Isaac Newton w/ it's 40,000 lb. burl

Re: Sir Isaac Newton w/ it\'s 40,000 lb. burl [ QUOTE ] I am not familiar with these nymphs shot out in the forest. Is it a photo contest? There is a similarity in them. I was actually hiking in the Adirondack's one day when I noticed a clearing in the distance through the trees. I...

Sir Isaac Newton w/ it's 40,000 lb. burl

Re: Sir Isaac Newton w/ it\'s 40,000 lb. burl [ QUOTE ] Mario, Love the photos and the beauty. A couple of years ago I saw A-WOL (Aerial Without Limits) in my local park in West Linn. AWOL is a Portland based dance group where they are suspended from wires and trees. Kind of like...

Sir Isaac Newton w/ it's 40,000 lb. burl

Re: Sir Isaac Newton w/ it\'s 40,000 lb. burl [ QUOTE ] That is some burl. I hoped you watched her, helped her climb up there. This could easily be your best effort yet, Doc. [/ QUOTE ] Actually ... I asked her about possibly going on top of the burl, and she agreed. But I skipped it for...

Re: Sir Isaac Newton w/ it\'s 40,000 lb. burl [ QUOTE ] Amazing trees! Great job capturing them in your photos. Keep em coming. [/ QUOTE ] Thank you. Next go at it, I'm thinking of trying a certain huge cathedral tree / aka "fairy ring" redwood in the same park. And possibly with a light...
