    vertical speedline size/weight limits

thank you for such an amazing response.

light rigging with ring and "figure 8" aka "rescue 8"

in this configuration having weight on both sides of the friction somehow reduces the twisting. whereas a climber descending with figure8 chest level will send out unweighted slack into a pile of knots.

it twists. but it really doesn't though. doesn't seem to on the ground, but tidy crew so maybe. i think friction above and not at the end weight of the piece keeps the rope from rolling instead of unweighted slack squirting out like spaghetti

light rigging with ring and "figure 8" aka "rescue 8"

can you show pictures? esp the solo work? how do you usually lock it off?

light rigging with ring and "figure 8" aka "rescue 8"

walking this through: if there is a lot of slack and then the right gyrations, the wrap could reform into a girth hitch and lock the entire thing up. hmm. in your experience and what you were taught, does this actually happen, is it just theoretical or at what frequency? in the configuration in...

light rigging with ring and "figure 8" aka "rescue 8"

I guess it could be used as a small portawrap at the bottom of the tree too. I thought there was a way to add an extra wrap.

light rigging with ring and "figure 8" aka "rescue 8"

there's things you can do with a figure8 besides rappelling off the spar rigging rope (which was the only time I saw another climber using one). It can be used for srt as a redirect or as a "soft 8" style canopy anchor. I guess folks commonly do light rigging off harness in place of s munter...

    that's interesting, i didn't know that about s rescue 8

light rigging with ring and "figure 8" aka "rescue 8"

correct, it's almost impossible go pull the rope back up without unlocking the figure8. Having the ring connected next to it is quick and easy. downside is you have to be next to the rigging point to reach it.

light rigging with ring and "figure 8" aka "rescue 8"

friction: on the load leg of rigging rope, pass bight through large figure8 hole and around the horn.

light rigging with ring and "figure 8" aka "rescue 8"

meant to mention: rigging rope pressure from ground causes the ring to squeeze onto the figure8, kind of dynamic mechanical friction. I think you can add more friction too.

light rigging with ring and "figure 8" aka "rescue 8"

haven't seen this previously. orientation seems to matter. figure8 on sling first, then ring, rigging rope from groundee through outside of ring, rigging rope to cut piece between ring and figure8. add an expected wrap through figure8 to add canopy friction. un flook the rope off the figure8 to...

can we get instructions for tying the prusik version please?

    Go to canopy anchor?

check to see if a carabiner fits through the ring. since it is required to back up any knot block system with a carabiner, this will double ensure you are safe

    vertical speedline size/weight limits

finished the job today. i was too stressed out about the vsl at this scale and with the twisted trunk angles. just decided to send it. had the pull line choked at 200 because that is how long my climb line is. descended down to customer indications guessing about 70', and made the one cut, about...

wondering anyone has experience with these spurs. The model with the snowboard straps is interesting. But the grips looks interesting.
