    TIMBERRRRR

I was just about to post that. I can't tell if that's one of Cambell's cranes or not (we use them fairly often). If not, they'll know about it and I'll try to get more info on the specific error. WYFF reports that nobody was injured. The wind was pretty stiff around here, but not that hard.

    Climbers for Christ

I've resisted chiming in on this derail of the thread, but this discussion highlights some my biggest concerns with the anti-God mindset. You would think that as humans have evolved physically that they would also evolve socially. However, we don't see much of that, do we? For example, if...

    Brush Bandit 1390XP Questions!!

There's no replacement for displacement! I'm partial to Bandit as well. You can order parts direct from the factory and their customer support is good. Although our local Bandit outfit is not very reputable, I haven't really needed their help since the folks in Michigan are willing to help my...

Knotless rigging system made remotely removable

That is pretty ingenious Richard! However, if the piece catches on ANYTHING on the way down what happens? Keeping weight on the line the whole time is usually not difficult, but when it is.... I typically use a steel 'biner for termination of my rigging line and I always use two wraps on the...

    Camp-USA Naiad pulley

The edges were pretty smooth. And it's bigger than it looks. With a 16mm running line capacity it could get overloaded quickly in tree work, but it still looks promising for light work. It reminds me of a CMI RP102 (which I have used for years in various applications), but more versatile.

    Camp-USA Naiad pulley

I was at REI with my son today picking up some hiking gear and came across this: http://m.rei.com/product/896110/camp-usa-naiad-pro-large-mobile-pulley Do any of you use these for rigging? I can see numerous options at 46kN.

    372xp or 576xp?

The 372 is solid!! The 576 is like most of the newer saws that run great if you can get them to run consistently.

    What a deal!

Looking for some CJ7 parts and I came across this: http://asheville.craigslist.org/bar/5306614800.html The ad will expire soon, so if it has here is the text: (There are a couple of low-quality pictures of the trees) I have one maple and one pecan tree for trade. You give me something.....I...

    New Climb Right aluminum spurs

A buddy of mine has the Buckingham sharpening kit and he let me borrow it to shape my gaffs. The kit comes with a template for the suggested shape. It takes about 1/16 of the face off (which is quite a bit), but they do feel better.

    New Climb Right aluminum spurs

I have the Stein X2 climbers and they are good. I liked the pads enough that I ordered some to put on my Bashins and that has become my daily spike setup. I actually ordered the green climb right versions of the pads, but they are very short and anyone over 5'9" will likely not be able to get...

Importance of the Spring Used in Mechanical Climbing Devices

A few comments stand out to me Richard: The fundamental element is friction, regardless of what self belaying device is in use. Technically, friction is entirely dependent on the normal (perpendicular component) force applied between two surfaces. For friction hitches we think about this as in...

    ANSI 133 an urban legend

Most of the posts make no such claim. What Z133 and A300 do is inform arborists and other entities as to what Best and/or Acceptable Practices are according to the people who are experts in the industry. Your opinion of what's safe doesn't count for much when your not informed. We are all for...

    Teufelberger epicord

You can literally hold a propane torch to the end of RIT and it only chars. Get it sappy and it's like anything else.... Mac, pm me your address and I'll send you a section of what I use. Maybe there's a difference, maybe not.

If you like XTC, try Sterling 9mm RIT. It lasts forever and runs VERY well on all of my XTC lines. I buy it at a local rescue supply shop for $1.40/ft and tie my own.
