    APTA-tude adjustment

I absolutely like how the laser stays down and out of the way for storage. But I tried one years ago on a big shot and it was a waste of money. I'm told they're a LOT brighter now, especially the green ones.

uCLIMBER --- double rope work positioning with static line access

This video is a quick demo of the uCLIMBER built out around a hitchclimber pulley (guys, it’s really a rigging plate cleverly disguised as a pulley), using the new epicord by Teuf. This hitchclimber rig delivers low cost and fast re-crotching. The Uni configuration favors high climbing...

    Double rope with hitch climber

Wow, Eric! On the strength of your enthusiasm, I ordered a 9x28" epi and set up your Micho in a uCLIMBER replacing the 8mm IceTail Distle. Wow: same reliable grip ... half the friction in the advance ... smoother control release. You always have a great nose for new gear ... thanks for the...

    Double rope with hitch climber

DahBulldog, you're not alone with this. If all else fails, here's another approach: a climbing-in-a-loop system. Pull the head end of your line down through your saddle ring and back up to the Hitchclimber middlehole. Wrap a slender sewn loop as your tending prusik, attaching to the top...

Petzl Zig Zag - Latest Version

Tuebor, I've had the same feeling about that slender connection. Even more, when the ZZ goes into "single line mode" (see my vid on uCLIMBER build detail), the body rotates counter-clockwise and the swivel pin drives up against the slot stop creating a bending moment as well as a tension pull...

    XRR sling ideas

Wow, I like where this is going. But I don't know enough about the splicing to predict the ultimate strength. You guys should talk Luke and Nick into breaking some stuff -- as a public service ;) OF

    X-rigging rings

Reg, I really enjoyed your “X ring review” video and I think it is hugely important. With your permission, sir, I’m reposting it here. I’ve been interested in these rings since Day1. But I’ve always thought “stronger lighter cheaper”. The important message of your video is that the rings...

    Strumming the Unicender

Thanks, Monkey, nice offer. But I'm going to wait until I can remember what leaves and grass look like. Prolly July.

    Strumming the Unicender

Richard, congrats on your Drum going up on Wesspur. I met Dave at Hartford and he struck me as a no-nonsense climber ... figures that something to cut wear / extend life would grab his attention. Good going. Does the Drum change the "normal" release of the Uni in any way? Your idea about...

uCLIMBER --- double rope work positioning with static line access

Finally, I've got the uCLIMBER buildout/safety video posted ... This vid is mostly about the Uni but also shows buildouts with the Zig Zag, the Hitchclimber, and the Rock Exotica Hydra. Popcorn alert: TWO beers. Related videos on the uCLIMBER playlist at...

What grabbed you at TCI Expo?

David, That is one mean looking truck! Third axle and hydraulics that could crush cars. Don't tell me you bought that ... We're all just drooling, right?

    Petzl Zig Zag update, again...

I don't think so, Yoyo... The "half-weight" idea means that 70 kg is going through the ZZ and another 70 kg are going through the return strand. Unless you're over 300 lbs, you're golden.

uCLIMBER --- double rope work positioning with static line access

A few weeks ago, I pulled down my two (2) videos showing the Unicender in an O-Ring rig and the new uCLIMBER rig. I wanted to make very sure that I was “coloring between the lines” with this idea. The videos are back up as unlisted links, only for the Buzz. http://youtu.be/JCQc6C5cfBE...

    Petzl Zig Zag update, again...

I want to use my ZigZag as a combo lanyard adjuster/climbing rig. I’m also interested in it for a “Climbing in a Loop” system and my uCLIMBER ddrt/static rig. However, Petzl clearly prohibits use in SRT. Months ago, I emailed them and they answered with a polite “No, don’t use it”. The...

What grabbed you at TCI Expo?

Bix, the pleasure was mine. Really. X, dammit. You must have been hiding in a corner. You have GOT to get over that shyness. Pel, the gears spin fast cuz all the teeth are stripping off. Tom, I felt like I was meeting someone off Mt Rushmore! What a great show. OF

What grabbed you at TCI Expo?

I'd love to hear about the new stuff that got your attention in Hartford. Here's are a few tidbits ... I especially liked the Petzl lanyard adjuster at the 3:27 mark. It should be available next spring, as a full system. I also scored a Stein Vega. OMG, I feel like I've just been let out...
