Broken needle - should I cut and resplice?

Hi gents, I was working on splicing up a 1/2 lanyard in 16 strand. Going well until the whip lock. I was pulling the needle through with visegrips. The eye bound up in the throat and broke off. So the eye of the needle is in the throat of the splice. Should I cut off the splice and restart...

    Morbark 1215

@K c m I think Reach is south of us, more in Amish country. We are between Reading and Allentown. I think he was the one who made the mechanic offer.

    Is hrc spliceable

I would recommend contacting the company directly even if they say they are out. It will put you at the top of the list. Direct purchase is more profitable for them than supplying resellers.

    Morbark 1215

@Reach the Morbarks do have a clutch. The options they sell manual or centrifugal as options in recent models. So this sounds like Kcm is running manual. @K c m many Morbark parts are not universal as far as I know. We tend to buy from the dealer as a result. As to the jam, it usually stalls...

Prusik cord by the foot question..

Thanks @Brocky very helpful. I will have to try that sewn whipping sometime. What is the method you use for capping the end?

Prusik cord by the foot question..

Some whipping doesn't require sewing. Lockstitch or yale whiplock does. But just wrapping the outside works for minimizing milking. It works well depending on what applications you are going to use the cord for. For example, the whipping I used from Bino's videos does not work for my Hitch Hiker...

Prusik cord by the foot question..

I have not glued, but I have whipped. This is a descent video on whipping that has worked for hitch cord for me.

In the name of Health and Safety... I give you vandalism by the Woodland Trust UK

I think this problem stems a little up the chain from lawyers. If the lawyers could not get paid from a liability ruling, they would not waste their time. The laws and responsibility for liability are skewed beyond reason. I lived in South Africa for a while. There were in ground trampolines...

In the name of Health and Safety... I give you vandalism by the Woodland Trust UK

I may be a bit skeptical, but he is making some broad claims based on only footage of one worksite and no secondary sources. The problem is it’s the kind of idiocy a nanny state does produce so it is believable. But this format of reporting is very easy to mislead. Without more information from...

    Mixing business and personal

@evo you say you are being ignored. What exactly are you asking? You explain your issues with the guy and ask generally how to handle it. Are you asking how to fire the guy and preserve a friendship? Don’t know if there is a way to do that for sure. Depends a lot on what and how you communicate...

    SRT on 1/2" rope

@VoodooViolinist, from a few other posts I gather you are trying out the f8 revolver. If you have a ring and a bit of hitch cord, I recommend you play with the stitch hitch. It is great for SRT and DdRT. You may be able to get a really functional system with what you have on hand that way...

    Sticht Hitch

@Brocky, what are you doing with the bight through the figure 8? I am not picturing what this does for you. I really like this idea. I am attaching my ring with a marlin spike hitch. Kind of bulky and moves around a bit. Really like the cleanness and removability. Where did you get the small...

    Sticht Hitch

Ok. Coming back to this as I said I would. I really like this hitch. I have used the smaller isc ring for all hitches. I run it on my long lanyard (DEDA). I used to have one end with the stitch and the second end with a standard English prussic tended with a shizzle. Now have both ends tended...

    Rope cutting

One trick is to cut through the tape. I didn’t know this until recently. Tape with painters or masking tape, then cut through it. Had much more success with box cutter and pocket knife after learning that tidbit. Also fusing ends works better on those taped ends as well.

Helper Not Wanting to Work in Bad Weather

It sounds like you are emotional about a communication pattern. I would suggest taking a deep breathe and having an open conversation about the communication pattern itself. First, maybe just ask about why he’s talking about the weather. Is he trying to be helpful? Trying to figure out for...
