    Left-handed saw?

I’ve had aches and joint pain like anyone who has done tree work for any length of time. The best thing I ever did was go see a good physical therapist and follow the exercises they recommended for those ailments. Like Levi mentioned a lot of this is core strength. I can’t recommend doing this...

Bandit 1890 behind forestry body, is there enough clearance

I wonder if putting the axle above the springs is an option? Could give you an extra few inches of clearance.

    Thank God for Protos

I’m glad to hear you are alright @oldoakman ! I too love my Protos as it’s the best option for safety on the job. Tree work is dangerous enough no need to make it worse leaving yourself under protected. Thanks for having the courage to share!

    What’s Your SMALLER Equipment Setup?

Hook n go with two different flatbeds would be the easiest way to go. One with the air compressor one with the chip unit. I don’t really do any air spade work though so I’d probably just roll with it the way I described.

    What’s Your SMALLER Equipment Setup?

My next truck will be set up similar. I can take my dump insert and mount it on the back. Tuck a couple 8 foot tool boxes on either side of it. Plenty of room for a few mats and mini skid in front of the chip box. Boom all in one unit ready to prune or do removals as long as they aren’t massive.

    660 top end rebuild

Yep great stuff. Although most recently I’ve used the permatex anaerobic gasket maker stuff. Seems to work pretty good.

    What’s Your SMALLER Equipment Setup?

It’s a not so clever reference to the state of Michigan.

    What’s Your SMALLER Equipment Setup?

Which speaks to my point when I said this: I’m glad you have a system that you are happy with. I quickly found the opposite of what you are saying to be true. For example easier to shoot chips into a chip bin/truck than to “wheelie bin” chips into whatever you’re hauling them away with. Easier...

    What’s Your SMALLER Equipment Setup?

This as well. Don’t get me wrong the mini chipper got me started on my own, but I was never so happy as the day I put my 9” chipper to work and retired the mini chipper. I don’t chip anything with the 9” that I wouldn’t have with the mini chipper but it’s way faster and less wear on my body.

    What’s Your SMALLER Equipment Setup?

Dude that’s pretty funny. I literally started out with a mini chipper. Methinks I’m not the one missing the point;)

    Remote control mini loaders?

Neat looking little rig! Looking at the specs if the machine weighs 2100 pounds, I’d be surprised if it couldn’t lift more than the stated 770#s. Most mini skids have a stated lift capacity that is far lower than actual.

    What’s Your SMALLER Equipment Setup?

I’d be super surprised if you weren’t the exception rather than the norm. I work some old urban properties around mid-Michigan and have yet to run into a gate narrower than the standard 36”. Seems like a non issue anyway since the material needs to come to the curb 9/10ths of the time anyway.

looking at a dump trailer tomo

If it’s a solid trailer in good shape that’s almost a too good to be true price. Instead of looking at trailers I’d suggest looking at medium duty dump trucks. I see old farm grain trucks in pretty decent shape for around that price frequently. Tree work is notoriously hard in equipment...

    Husqvarna 592 xp

Most of the real world 592 users (not fake influencers) I know really like it. Husqvarna’s quality control issues not so much.

Was just going to say that. Pretty hard to beat a hitch and hitch cord of your choice.

    Echo DCS-2500T

I believe the Stihl bars fit right up. I think the problem I ran into was finding a sprocket. Iirc it’s different than the makita battery chainsaws. I’d have to look to confirm though.

    Echo DCS-2500T

It’s the 36volt dual battery couple shaft power head. I mainly run the pole saw attachment and the a hedge trimmer attachment with a little string trimmer attachment action mixed in. The main drawback is if you are cutting larger 4”+ wood the battery protection software kicks in too easily and...
